4 TERMS OF REFERENCE 1. To prepare suggestions and recommendations on Import and Indenting Policy, Tariff and Trade Facilitation. 2. To put forward initial reaction on new Import Policy.. To devise ways and means to implement suggestions of the Importers, Indentors and Trading Entrepreneurs. 4. To review implementation of Import Policy, Tariff and Trade Facilitation from time to time and make necessary suggestions / recommendations to remove problems / difficulties, if any, being faced by the businessmen and entrepreneurs. 5. To devise ways and means for tariff rationalization, customs modernization, port management and other necessary trade facilitation measures. 6. To perform any other assignments assigned by the Board / President. 7. To review existing Export Policy, Promotion, Diversificat ion, Multilateral and Bilateral Trade Agreements of the Government and its implementation and put forward necessary recommendations. To devise ways and means to build capacity of members/exporters to enter, retain and expand their market share abroad. 8. To monitor and evaluate the changing business scenario in Bangladesh with particular reference to developments in WTO, SAFTA, BIMST -EC, D-8, SASEC, etc. and formulate recommendations/inputs for firming up Bangladesh position for negotiations in these international and regional bodies. 9. To suggest measures to maximize gains of trade of Bangladesh through multilateral, regional and sub-regional cooperation agreements and their implementation. 10. To create awareness among DCCI members about opportun ities for export and suggest appropriate measures for promotion and diversification of Export Products and Markets for Bangladesh by holding seminars, roundtables, trade meetings, etc in consultation with President, DCCI 11. To build capacity and expertise in DCCI on WTO, SAFTA, BIMSTEC and other international, regional and sub -regional bodies. 12. To deal with any other related matters that may be referred to by the Board of Directors / President. MEETINGS: In the absence of the Convenor the Coordinating Director shall call upon one of the Joint Convenors to convene the meetings in consultation with the Coordinating Director and the agenda of such meetings must be approved by the President. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF COORDINATING DIRECTOR, CONVENO R, JOINT CONVENORS: (a) Coordinating Director shall inform the Board of Directors of the outcome of the Standing Committee meetings and play the role of liaison between the committee and the Board.
5 (b) Convenor and in his absence any of the Joint Conven ors shall preside over and conduct all meetings in consultation with the Coordinating Director with an objective to develop entrepreneurship and strengthen leadership qualities with special emphasis to young, educated and talented members. QUORUM: The presence of 5 (five) members in the meeting shall form the quorum. CO-OPTION: For better functioning of the Standing Committee, if any co -option is necessary, the Coordinating Director shall bring such case to the notice of the President for necessar y action. N O T E: 1. The Standing Committee shall submit its suggestions / recommendations to the Board of Directors for approval. 2. Besides the nominated members, all members of the Board of Directors are entitled to attend meetings of the Standing Committee. DCCI Secretariat shall ensure sending notices of the meeting to the Directors.. Members remaining absent in (three) consecutive meetings of the Committee without prior notice shall be deemed to have vacated their membership of the Standing Committee. 4. The term of office of the Standing Committee shall be one year, if not otherwise decided by the Board of Directors. 5. The Standing Committee shall convene at least (three) regular meetings in a year (excluding emergency meetings and m eetings on policy issues). 6. The Standing Committee must submit their report on its activities within 0th September, 2017 in order to incorporate the same in the Annual Report, failing which the Standing Committee's report will not be included in the A nnual Report.
