2 JUTE SPINNERS LTD. is completely 100% export oriented Company a part of SHAMS GROUP. The export of high quality yarn made from world renowned Bangladesh Jute for use in the Axminster and Wilton Carpets, was conceived in the mid sixties by James Mackie & Sons Ltd. Belfast, Northern Ireland and about six mills were established in the territory which is now a Sovereign and Independent Country Bangladesh. The total Annual Production of yarn and twine was approx. 12,000 MT whereas world production and demand were in the region of 400,000 MT. Dundee in Scotland, and a few other European countries were the main producers, whilst smaller quantities were produced in other parts of the world. The former Chairman of the Shams Group Late Mr. Muhammad Shams-ul Haque was one of the pioneers of successful production and export of High Quality Yarn and is still regarded as the top expert on Jute and Jute Yarn development. However, since the seventies the introduction of synthetics and other man made fibers as substitute for Jute Yarn has seen a gradual decrease in the production and demand of Jute Yarn and twine. At present no Jute Spinning mills exist in the western world, resulting in spinning industries being relocated eastward, mostly to Bangladesh & India.
