2 Community Engagement Strategies Committee Catherine Bennett will chair the committee Audit Committee Audit will be in late September Finance Committee Met before the last Board meeting. Transportation Task Force Committee No report. Next meeting 8/25. John Linfoot has been contacted and is working on a contract. Tim will have contract for the next Board meeting. John Linfoot is looking at available properties. Presentations Community Relations Superintendent s Report None. None. Tim Hayes reported: As of tonight our instructional hiring has been completed. Our new and returning probationary teachers meet Monday and Tuesday next week. A picnic is planned for Long Point Park and a bus tour of the district. 3-8 data was released at the end of last week. Tim has put together a document and will send to the Board on 3-8 Math and ELA. Summer Linkages and the District calendar will be out on August 30 th. Mark Linton is sending out information to elementary families. And Mike Salatel is sending out locker information. Retreat Tim has compiled all information in one document and will review with the administrative team. Discussion Items Old Business UPK Task Force-Steve Miskell suggested that we come up with a charge and a committee. Jenn Mehlenbacher would like to be on the committee. It was suggested to have a Livonia school teacher, a GCS faculty member and PTSA member. UPK Task Force will be placed on the next meeting for discussion. None.
3 Personnel Appointment of Long-term Instrumental Band Substitute MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, Ryan Hobart who has initial certification in the Music area is appointed to a non-probationary position of long-term substitute position to replace Maggie Kulzer commencing on September 14, 2014 and ending on November 14, 2014 or until Maggie Kulzer returns from leave of absence, whichever is sooner. Salary shall be $7, (pro-rated). Appointment of Special Education Committee Physician MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, to appoint Dr. Gregory Collins as the physician for the Committee on Special Education for the school year. Appointment of Coach Volunteers MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, to appoint Katheryne Cook as a cheerleading fall and winter volunteer coach and Amanda Antonucci as a girls soccer volunteer coach for the athletic season. Appointment of ELA (English Language Arts) Teacher MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, Grace Tulowiecki who holds professional certification in the area of ELA grades 6-12 is hereby appointed to a probationary position in the English tenure area for a probationary period commencing on September 1, 2014 and ending on August 31, Grace shall receive a salary of $44,357 (inclusive of 30 graduate hours) for the school year. Appointment of Business Teacher Second: Mike Tenalio MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, Megan Taft who holds Initial certification in the area of Business Education 6-12 is hereby appointed to a probationary position in the Business tenure area for a probationary period commencing on September 1, 2014 and ending on August 31, Megan shall receive a salary of $41, (inclusive of 46 graduate hours) for the school year.
4 Appointment of Foreign Language Teacher Second: Mike Tenalio MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, Cristina Hiscock who holds Initial certification in the French grades 6-12 area is hereby appointed to a probationary position in the foreign language tenure area for a probationary period commencing on September 1, 2014 and ending on August 31, Cristina shall receive a salary of $45,977 (inclusive of 57 graduate hours) for the school year. Appointment of Modified Boys Soccer Coach Second: Mike Tenalio MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, to appoint Jason Ehmann as a modified boys soccer coach. Salary shall be $1, Appointment of Substitute Bus Monitors Second: Mike Tenalio MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the following shall be appointed as Geneseo Central School bus monitors: Deb Parent, Bob Peri, Roxanne Loomis, Tammy Lemen, Bill Little, Marie Cassada, Teresa WAchholder, Lou Ann Siebert, Angelo Finocchario, Julie Montesano, Frank Seelos, Fred Shannon and Carhles Doerflinger. Appointment of Bus Drivers for School Year Second: Mike Tenalio MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, the following shall be appointed as bus drivers for the school year: Marie Cassada, Angelo Finocchario, Tammy Lemen, William Little, Roxanne Loomis, Julie Montesano, Christine Moses, Debra Parent, Robert Peri, Frank Seelos, Frederick Shannon, LouAnn Siebert, Deborah Tenalio, Glynda Valentine, Teresa Wachholder, Beth Cario, Kenneth Richardson, Cliniton Taft, Sheila Merriman, Debra Boyd-Adams, Charles Doerflinger, Dan Soles and Patricia Holbrook. Acceptance of Resignation of Business Teacher Second: Mike Tenalio MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, to accept the resignation of of David Pero, Business teacher effective August 31, New Business Approval of Norman Howard School Contract Second: Mike Tenalio MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent to approve a contract with Norman Howard School from September 3, 2014 through June 25, 2015 at a rate of $30, per student. This tuition rate is to be adjusted retroactive to September 3, 2014 upon the approval of the State Education

7 Resolution for Bus Driver/Transportation Staff Appreciation Month WHEREAS, the education of youth is essential to the future of our community, state, country and world, and WHEREAS, the safe transportation of students is essential component in the education Of youth; and WHEREAS, bus drivers are responsible for transporting the students in their care in the safest possible manner; and WHEREAS, mechanics are responsible for maintaining vehicles in the safest possible condition and WHERAS, the drivers and mechanics of the Geneseo Central School District do their jobs in an exemplary manner; and WHEREAS, the transportation staff of the Geneseo Central School District demonstrate their caring of and dedication to children on a daily basis. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Geneseo Central School District Board of Education proclaims the month of September, 2014 to be bus driver and mechanic appreciation month; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Geneseo Central School District board of education Strongly encourages all members of our community to join in this observance, recognizing the dedication and hard work of these individuals. Adopted this 19 th day of August. Business Office Approval of Treasurer s Reports MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, to approve treasurer reports for July 31, Approval of General Fund Transfer RESOLVED, that the District is hereby authorized and directed to transfer the sum of $82,609 from the unreserved unappropriated fund balance of the General Fund to the Insurance Reserve Fund. Approval of Transportation Contracts MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, to approve transportation Contracts for the school year with Livingston-Wyoming ARC: Monroe 1 BOCES Creekside School: $244.00/day with aide Monroe 1 East Rochester Elementary: $160.00/day Mary Cariola Children s Center: $150.00/day
8 Approval of Extraclass Treasurer s Report MOTION: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, to approve the Extraclass Treasurer Report for July, Resolution to Confirm Tax Rolls and Authorize Tax Levy RESOLUTION TO CONFIRM TAX ROLLS AND AUTHORIZE TAX LEVY WHEREAS, the Board of Education has been authorized by the voters at the Annual School Meeting to raise for the current budget of the school year a sum not to exceed $18,841,608; and, whereas, the Board of Education has been authorized by the voters of the Wadsworth Library to raise an additional $284,479 for a total tax levy of $10,261,715.00; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board fix the equalized tax rates by towns and confirm the extension of the taxes as they appear on the following described tax roll: Name of Town Total Assessed Valuations by Towns Equalized Tax Rate by Towns Total Tax Levy by Town Geneseo Groveland Sparta West Sparta $487,272,224 $124,500,315 $3,348,204 $109, $8,127, $2,076, $55, $1, TOTALS $615,229,934 $16.68 $10,261, AND BE IT HEREBY DIRECTED THAT the tax warrant of this board, duly signed shall be affixed to the above-described tax rolls authorizing the collection of said taxes to begin September 1, 2014 and end October 31, 2014 giving the tax warrant an effective period of sixty one (61) days at the expiration of which time the tax collector shall make an accounting in writing to the board; AND IT IS FURTHER DIRECTED THAT the delinquent tax penalties shall be fixed
9 as follows: 1 st month free period, Dated: August 19, nd month interest of 2 percent added, 3 rd month or fraction thereof, interest of 3 percent added. MOTION CONCERNING TAX WARRANT Motion made by Jennifer Mehlenbacher Seconded by Craig Phelps WHEREAS: Chapter 73 of the Laws of 1977, amended Section 1318, subdivision 1 of the Real Property Tax Law; and WHEREAS: the unencumbered, unreserved fund balance at the close of the last fiscal year must be applied in determining the amount of the school tax levy except for an amount not to exceed 4% of the current school year budget; and WHEREAS: this latter amount may be held as surplus funds during the current school year; BE IT ADDITIONALLY RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS: To the collector of Town(s) of Geneseo, Groveland, Sparta and West Sparta, County of Livingston and State of New York. You are hereby commanded: To give notice and start collection on September 1, 2014 in accordance with the provisions of Section 1322 of the Real Property Tax Law. To give notice that tax collection will end on October 31, To collect taxes in the total sum of $10,261, in the same manner that collectors are authorized to collect town and county taxes in accordance with the provisions of Section 1318 of the Real Property Tax Law. To make no changes or alterations in the tax warrant or the attached tax rolls but shall return the same to the board of education. The board may recall its warrant and tax roll for correction of errors or omissions in accordance with the provisions of Section 1316 of the Real Property Tax Law. To forward by mail to each owner of real property listed on the tax rolls within ten days after the start of collection a statement of taxes due on his property on press-numbered tax bill forms provided by the school district in accordance with the provisions of Section 922 of the Real Property Tax Law. To forward by mail, without interest penalties, to the office of the county treasurer a detailed tax bill of all state land parcels liable for taxes on the school tax rolls in accordance with provisions of Sections 540 and 544 of the Real Property Tax Law. To receive from each of the taxable corporations and natural persons the sums listed on the attached tax rolls without interest penalties when such sums are paid before the end of the first month of the tax collection period. To add two percent interest penalties to all taxes collected
10 during the second month of the tax collection and to add three per cent interest penalties to all taxes collected during any part of the third month of the tax collection period and to account for such sums as income due to the school district. To issue press-numbered receipts only on forms provided by the school district in acknowledgement of receipt of payments of taxes and to retain, preserve and file exact carbon copies of all such receipts issued as required by Section 987 of the Real Property Tax Law. To promptly return the warrant at its expiration and if any taxes on the attached tax rolls shall be unpaid at that time, deliver an accounting thereof on forms showing by town the total assessed valuation, tax rate, the total tax levy, the total amounts remaining uncollected as required by Section 1330 of the Real Property Tax Law. The warrant is issued pursuant to Sections 910, 912 and 914 of the Real Property Tax Law and is delivered in accordance with Sections 1306 and 1318 of this law. It is effective immediately after it is properly signed by a majority of the board of education. The warrant shall expire on the date stated above unless a renewal or extension has been endorsed on the face of this warrant in writing in accordance with Section 1318, subdivision 2 of the Real Property Tax Law.
