47 Share trading (continued) Buying and Selling Shares Price Steps How we calculate a market to limit order: In line with ASX trading rules, market orders are always placed as limit orders based on the last market price plus price steps (for buys) or subtracting price steps (for sells). The price is calculated by the number of price steps times the multiple. For example: Buy trade = Last traded price + number of price steps times the multiple Sell trade = Last traded price - number of price steps times the multiple Price steps Price steps are the minimum price multiples for a security. The multiple depends on the market price for the security. The size of each price step is calculated from the current market price: less than or equal to $0.099 then $0.001 greater than $0.099 less than or equal to $1.995 then $0.005 greater than $1.995 less than or equal to $ then $0.01 greater or equal to $ then $1.00. Based on the current market price then depending on whether it s a buy or a sell we add or subtract, a number of price steps to that price. The number of price steps we use depends on the current market price as follows, if the market price is: less than or equal to $0.02 then equals 1 price step less than or equal to $0.15 then equals 2 price steps less than or equal to $0.35 then equals 3 price steps less than or equal to $0.50 then equals 5 price steps less than or equal to $1.00 then equals 7 price steps otherwise 8 price steps n-link. 106 Create a Tailored Portfolio and link to an account group This function allows you to create new tailored portfolios and link investor groups to a specific model. Once the model portfolio has been created, it is a simple process to complete bulk transactions such as bulk reweighting. You can create as many tailored portfolios as you like for each MLC service. For example, you can create a portfolio for investors with an aggressive risk profile or for investors who have a balanced risk profile. Setting up a Tailored Portfolio 1. On the n-link home page, click Tailored Portfolios in the Practice Management column. The Tailored Portfolios screen is split into two panels, Adviser/Dealer Portfolios and ThreeSixty Model Portfolios. (To access ThreeSixty portfolios you must have a valid subscription). 2. Click the New button to create a new model portfolio. Alternatively if you would like to copy an existing model, highlight the model by clicking on it once then click Copy. A service screen will appear. Select from the drop down box the service you would like to use for the new (or copied) portfolio. Tip: Each model portfolio must be linked to a service. This means that if you wish to create similar portfolios for a MLC Navigator Investment Plan or MLC Wrap Investment, you must create the portfolio twice. This is due to each service having slightly different investment choices. 3. Create a name for the new model portfolio in the Portfolio Name in the Portfolio Summary screen. Click on Add Investments and in the Available Products screen using the Funds, Term Deposits, Shares and SMAs tabs, place a tick next to your selected investments, then click OK. In the Proposed % column, enter the percentage amount that each product should comprise of the total portfolio and then click Save. Important: The Proposed % column can not equal more than 100%. As you enter each proposed amount, the Cash column percentage will be reduced to reflect the percentage of the portfolio that has been allocated. For minimum liquidity purposes, you must have at least 1% in the cash account. 4. Once you have saved the proposed benchmarks, the proposed amount will copy to the Benchmark % column. The Proposed % can still be edited. For example, you can add more products as needed or remove any products that are not required by allocating a zero percentage. 5. Select the Sell Down button to set a default sell down order. Click the Custom Sell Down Order radio button in the Sell Down screen to move investment products up and down through the list to change the sell down order. Select Reinvestment of Earnings to set reinvestment options. 6. Select the History button to view the portfolio weighting and market exposure of the current benchmark. From this screen you can also see historical benchmarks. Any time you make changes to a benchmark, previous benchmarks will be saved here. Linking a Tailored Portfolio to an Account Group 7. Select the Linked Accounts button and link the portfolio template to a group of investors whom you would like to have this portfolio. This step is necessary before you can perform a bulk transaction such as a bulk reweight. In the Linked Accounts screen, click the Linked Investor Group button and select from the group of investors you would like to link the portfolio to. Tip: If the Investor Account Group does not appear in the screen, you need to create the group from the n-link home page. Once a group has been linked to a portfolio, the portfolio will no longer be linked to other groups. It is therefore best to create a specific group for each model portfolio you create. Any changes made to a group from the Account Groups module, eg adding or deleting members, will affect the portfolio model. If you selected the wrong group, you can use the Clear button to remove it. Alternatively, you can click the Linked Investor Group button and select another group. n-link. Click and it s done 106
