4 Preface The St. Christopher & Nevis Social Security Board is pleased to present the Statistical Digest for the period It is the third publication of this nature. This publication provides a three year period of review instead of the five or six years usually presented in our statistics digests. Since the previous publications are available for download at our website, or via request at our office, a supplemental document was preferred. Hence, this digest was denoted Volume 2.1, indicating that it is the first supplement to the full Statistical Digest Volume 2.0. Additionally, an Employment section is available in this supplement which presents condensed statistics usually included in our Employment Digests. Although some of the data is repeated, some new insights have been presented. The editorial staff hopes that these insights would be of benefit to you the reader. We also solicit your feedback on any of our publications thus far. This publication is in furtherance of the mission of the Research & Statistics Department which is To research, analyse and report all pertinent issues of the social security board and its stakeholders with promptness, accuracy and foresight, through sound statistical methods. Donovan A.G. Herbert Manager Research & Statistics Department I
5 Acknowledgements First and foremost the Research & Statistics Team would like to acknowledge the Lord GOD for His unmatched love and grace. With Him, all things are possible. We all drew from His strength and guidance as we sought to expand on our prior publications, namely the Statistics Digest Volumes 1 and 2, and the Employment Digest Volume 1. The R&S Team worked assiduously in the production of this document. Our Administrative and Senior Officers spearheaded the preparation and vetting of the data and this production serves as a testament to their skill and diligence. Thank you Ms. Paulette Eddy and Mrs. Peggy Fraser-Browne for your efficiency and consistency. It would be remiss of me not to express gratitude to our Board of Directors, our Director and Deputy Director for their confidence and support of the R&S Team. Our Assistant Director Research, Statistics and Public Relations Mr. Elvin Bailey is also in line for a worthy mention. His insight and support throughout the development process was truly valuable. The Public Relations Team led by Mr. Chesil Hamilton (Manager) provided significant support throughout the development of this document. The officers of this Department Mr. Walter Morton, Ms. Kamilah Lawrence and Ms. Tasha Hendrickson were key to the launch of this new Digest. Thank you. I wish to acknowledge in a special way the Records Team who vet and enter insured persons and wage data. Commendations are due to the Benefits Team who vet, enter and process claims information and provide the benefits we expect from this institution. We greatly appreciate the invaluable technical support from the Management of Information Systems (MIS) Team who ensure that our database is secure, maintained and readily accessible. Our Compliance, Internal Audit and Finance & Investment Teams are due a high note of praise for their vigilance and efficiency. All members of the Social Security Team have contributed to the success and consistency of these productions. Without your contributions, this document would not materialize. Finally, to our stakeholders and to the users of this digest, thank you for supporting your St. Christopher & Nevis Social Security Board. Donovan A.G. Herbert Manager Research & Statistics Department II
