It s been a fast start to the New Year. Our homeowners dues were to be paid last month, if you haven t paid, please do so immediately. Another reminder that our Annual Homeowner s Meeting will be February 19 at Landmark Middle School at 7pm. Please be sure to attend, if you know you cannot attend, make sure to fill out a proxy. There will be a few open positions, so I ask that you would please consider becoming part of the board. I have served as the president the last three years. My term is expiring and we ll need a new president. I have really enjoyed having a part of trying to make our community a better place to call home. I will also say the board stays on track and completes tasks before them. It s not a gossip hour, it s not a club and it s not a power struggle. Its committed homeowners wanting a better Hickory Creek. Give it a shot and join. With all the leaves that are falling, it s important that each homeowner keep their lawn picked up and keep gutters and drains cleared of debris. On that note, the Yard of the Month will be awarded again come March. So get those lawns cleaned and looking good. Let s all do our part to make Hickory Creek a great place to call Home! See you around the neighborhood. Keeping the Neighborhood Safe and Beautiful Safety Tips The number to report a streetlight outage is You need to give them the number of the pole and the nearest intersection. Great new LED bulbs installed throughout the community. Lock your cars! This neighborhood and a number of the surrounding neighborhoods have had issues with people testing car doors at night to see if they are open and then taking things that are in the car. Board approved report and letters will be sent out. ND will post on FB the need for not parking in the street. 2. Complaints not covered in report Lot xxx has 2 different styles of fencing and 3 different colors. All fencing is visible from the street (Misty Hollow) is not uniform and does not meet CCR requirements. CH will look for a variance for fence and results to the board. If no variance is found it was agreed that homeowner will be asked to redo fence to comply with CCR requirements. Lots xxx, xxx & xxx all have excessive weeds down to the pond. Lot xxx is unkept Lot xx numerous trash bags at the curb on non-trash days 3. Variance Requests Granted variances - None New requests None Lakes committee: Report submitted, read and reviewed Old issues We no longer have access to lake 5 from lot #xxx New issues TW - says there are a lot of edits needed in the Report to the Homeowners regarding the pond/weir problems in our community that was submitted in the lakes report it was agreed that she will do the edits and the revision to all the BOD. This letter will be published in the newsletter 2/6/19. ND motions that we table the bids on the lakes for another time. INF Services did not service the ponds/lakes the month of December and will not be sending us an invoice for that month. RH motions that we suspend treatments on the lakes/ponds for at least the next 3 months. LH 2 nd the motion. Vote unanimous in favor of RH motion. TW will notify INF Services that we will be suspending services until further notice. Mr. Roberts asks that the board repair and replace his yard where he claims Lake treatment service companies have caused damages to his grass. Discussion It was agreed to table this discussion for now.

Approval of Secretary s December 3, 2018 report Secretary s report was presented TW - motioned that we accept the Secretary s report as presented Motioned seconded by JK Motioned carried & report approved unanimously Treasurer s Report: See Report, read and reviewed Approval of Treasurer s December 2018 report a) Treasurer s report was presented b) ND motioned that we accept the Treasurers report as presented c) Motioned seconded by JK d) Motion carried & report approved unanimously 2. TW asks that we invest some of the funds in the treasury Discussion CVC motions that we invest $5000 each in a CD thru Vystar CU at a 2.2 interest rate. RH 2 nd the motions Vote 7 in favor of the motion and 1 Nay (LH). The motion passes. Webmaster Chairman: ND Chairman, No report Social Committee Chairman: Needs Chairman 1. Those of you who delivered the luminaries please return the plastic bins to LH 2. LH - there are 6 plastic 40+ gal bins that the Christmas decorations are stored in and these bins need a home. I do not have room for them in my garage. 3. JK we will take down the Christmas decorations Sat Jan 12, 2019 at 8:30 am and meet at the south entrance, ND please post in FB 4. ND has bought more lights for next year. Newsletter Chairman: RH Next issue deadline 2/6/2019 delivered by 2/9/2019. ND and CVC asked about selling add space to business in the area to offset the printing costs. Neighborhood Watch: LA Chairman, No report Welcome Committee: RN Chairman Absent, no report Grant committee: No new business 1. We have had initial approval for the Matching Grant Fund for We are now waiting for the contract to sign. We will sign and return for the Mayor s signature and wait for the return of the contract. So this means we have approval and just waiting for all signatures at this time. HCCC Hickory Creek Compliance Committee: No new business Nomination Committee: See report 1. We need 78 votes for a quorum at the General Membership meeting 2. None of the board members whose term is up has told me if they will be running again. 3. Sample letter to homeowners remove it is time for new blood and add We don t want to look like JoAndy 4. Redo election ballot to add names of incumbents whose term has not expired. CVC will stay on board but will not do lakes. Jill S. will not be able to run for the BOD at this time. 4 PAGE 4 Hickory Creek is on Face Book Hickory Creek Home Owners Association ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING Tuesday February 19, 2019 Time: 7 pm Location: Landmark Middle School 101 Kernan Blvd N Additional parking off Abess Blvd Room: Cafeteria Purpose of meeting: To vote in 2019 Board of Directors PLEASE HELP! The community is in need of new board members. We have posted requests in the past with no response from our neighbors. No one on the current board wants to leave an open position that will cause other board members to double their load. If every position is filled no one is over worked. We don t want to look like some of the communities around us. If you do not feel you have the experience necessary incumbents are all willing to remain on the board and train you for the 2019 term so you can take over the position in It is a great way to meet new people. No one is too old most of us on the current board are recently retired and previous board members are also welcome. Most positions don t require much time. This board maintains a positive environment and welcomes all home owners to participate either on the board or on a committee or just attending monthly board meetings. Apprentice positions, training available Webmaster (must be 16 or older) Treasurer (we have a very up to date computer and software program) Secretary (everything is computerized, with HOA computer) Lake Manager Committees needing members Social committee chairman Nomination committee chairman for 2020 (this position really only works from Oct Feb) Lake Committee We really need people to step up, come join us. Tru Blue lawn services contract is up for renewal discussion regarding service. CVC motioned that we renew Tru Blue contract for another year. TW 2 nd the motion Vote unanimous in favor of motion. 2. CH will send TB a letter regarding setting out lawn debris from his company out at his curb before and after trash pickup day. 3. School has been reserved for 2019 meetings. 4. Not for Profit and Tax return TW has not received paperwork yet 5. LH will make up Agenda for General Meeting Tabled Discussions: 1. 10/2/18 - *ND motions that we do not renew our Innovation Fountain Services contract when it expires in April 2019 for a predetermined time. Take the funds that we would pay the monthly fees into an earmarked account for the time being /2/18 - It was discussed about replacing the announcement boards at N & S entrances and agreed to table this discussion. Cases are coming apart 3. 10/2/18 - RN had mentioned to JK about a program called A Little Library. It is basically a book exchange program. A covered, waterproof box is put up in the neighborhood people put used books in the box and can also take a book as they want. Discussion ensued, cost, vandalism, topic monitoring. It was decided to table until a social committee could handle it. Open Forum: 1. Lot 57 wants to thank the board especially JS, for helping her recently when she was in need. HC is very neighborly. He will continue to represent us in 2019, but we should start looking for a new attorney. One home for sale for $280,000 per Realtor.com. Money Market Account: Have decided to wait on opening the money market account with VyStar. Reasons are 2 fold. (1) They require copies of the following: Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws listing officers representing Hickory Creek, letter from Hickory Creek acknowledging account opening, confirms officers authorized to open the account & signed by officers representing Hickory and proof of Federal ID number. (2) Based on above info, decided to wait for new board. Sent letter to Innovative asking to suspend service through March and asking them to submit new bid. Have not received anything back from them.
