6 Speakers Rick Bruzek, Pharm.D. Vice President, Pharmacy Services, HealthPartners Dr. Bruzek earned his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Minnesota - College of Pharmacy. His pharmacy experience includes pharmacy practice in the United States Public Health Service - Indian Health, hospital clinical services and directing the Minnesota State Medicaid pharmacy program. Dr. Bruzek began his involvement in managed care pharmacy at BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota and was one of the founders of Pharmacy Gold, Inc., the predecessor of Prime Therapeutics. At HealthPartners, Dr. Bruzek has overall responsibility for pharmacy programs which includes pharmacy benefits for a health plan of 850,000 members as well as operation of clinic pharmacies, centralized prescription filling facility, mail order facility and clinical pharmacy services. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutical Care and Health at the University of Minnesota - College of Pharmacy Brooke Campbell Employee Fitness Center and Center for Employee Resilience Manager, Regions Hospital Brooke is a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Wellness Coach. She graduated from University of Wisconsin- La Crosse with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science in 2005 and has 13 years of experience in the fitness industry. She has worked in worksite wellness for ten years, with the past four years living her professional dream at Regions Hospital in the Employee Health and Wellness Department. She truly enjoys creating open and trusting relationships with people and helping people to achieve their true potential. Betsy Dill Partner, Mercer Betsy is a Mercer Partner and Global Retirement & Innovation Strategist. Betsy is actively involved in leading and contributing to the development of intellectual capital for Mercer, globally. Before joining Mercer in 1998, she was a partner with a competitor firm, where, as a senior pension actuary and retirement consultant, she had extensive experience working with complex controlled groups and multinational employers. Betsy has a B.A. in mathematics and philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary. Katherine A. Hesse Partner of Murphy, Hesse, Toomey & Lehane, LLP Ms. Hesse is one of the founding partners of Murphy, Hesse, Toomey & Lehane, LLP, and has practiced primarily in labor and employment and employee benefits law for over 30 years. She serves as counsel to business corporations, government, and tax exempt organizations including hospitals, colleges, churches, and private and public retirement and welfare plans. She has litigated numerous employment and benefits cases before the state and federal trial and appellate courts, administrative agencies and arbitrators. Ms. Hesse is past Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Boston Bar Association and member of the Labor Law Section Council of the Massachusetts Bar Association. She served as president of the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists and as chair of the Attorneys Committee of the International
7 Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. A member of the Editorial Board of Benefits Quarterly, she leads the team of attorneys who write its Legal-Legislative-Regulatory Update. In addition to her professional commitments, Ms. Hesse also serves or has served on a number of boards including Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, the South Shore Chamber of Commerce (Past Chair); and the Massachusetts Healthcare Human Resources Association (Senior Advisory Council) Ms. Hesse is a graduate of Smith College and the Boston University School of Law. She is admitted to the Bars of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Liz Incze Vice President, Life and Absence Management Strategy and Product Development Aetna, Inc. As Vice President of Aetna s Life and Absence Management Strategy and Product Development, Ms. Incze is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of Aetna s Life and Disability products from innovative new business development through product management to endure profitable growth. Prior to joining Aetna, Ms. Incze worked at UNUM for 19 years and The Standard for 10 where she held a number of positions with increasing responsibility in business strategy, product development, underwriting, risk management, and operations. Ms. Incze holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Mathematics from Boston University. She is a Chartered Life Underwriter, a Chartered Financial Consultant and a Senior Professional in Human Resources. Active in the industry and her community, Ms. Incze has been an invited speaker for industry conferences; she sits on the advisory board of DMEC, the Worksite Marketing Committee of LIMRA, and is a Member of Council for Disability Awareness. Currently, Ms. Incze serves as Chairman of Maine Island Trails Association, and has previously held leadership positions on the boards of Safe Passage, Friends of Casco Bay, and 317 Main St. Rebecca Kehr Manager, CliftonLarsonAllen Becky has over 12 years of employee benefit plan audit experience. Her background includes audits of single, multi and multiple employer plans including 401(k), 403(b), ESOP, profit sharing, money purchase pension plans, defined benefit and health and welfare plans. She has trained employees in benefit plan auditing and has participated in the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants Financial Statement Review Task Force for employee benefit plans. In addition, Becky has consulted with plans regarding compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Gerard Mullane Principal, Vanguard Gerry Mullane is a Principal in Vanguard Institutional Investor Group. He is responsible for all of Vanguard s new business development of DC, DB and NQ large-market retirement plans across the U.S., including both asset management programs and recordkeeping services. Before joining Vanguard, Mr. Mullane served as an Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army, holding numerous leadership positions. He earned a B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.
8 Cami Smalley Certified Wellness Coach, Regions Hospital Cami is a professional Health and Wellness Coach who specializes in holistic wellness, positive psychology coaching, personal growth, and stress management strategies including yoga, meditation, imagery, energy work and other modalities. She has advanced degrees in Physical Education and Holistic Health Studies and has worked in the health and fitness industry for over 25 years. As the owner of NurseLife, she has been consulting with Regions Hospital since 2013 to help motivate staff towards positive change. Mary Spanier Engagement Director, CliftonLarsonAllen Mary brings over 15 years of experience to her role which includes significant experience devoted to ERSA plan auditing, compliance and government reporting. Her background includes audits of defined contribution (including 401(k), 403(b), profit sharing, money purchase pension, and employee stock ownership), defined benefit and health and welfare plans. She also consults on matters surrounding ERISA regulations that govern employee benefit plans. Mary is a national leader involved with designing and developing the firm-wide employee benefit plan audit approach. She is also a designated quality reviewer of benefit plans and a leader in the SOC 1 review process for the group. Rick Storms, CEBS Field Management, Center for Healthy Aging, Medica Rick Storms oversees sales and account management for Medica s Center for Healthy Aging. Prior to joining Medica, Rick worked for two large consulting firms, an international insurance company and a national TPA. Rick has worked in the employee benefits industry for 30 years and is a frequent speaker at industry association meetings and has been published in a variety of professional journals. He is a past president of the ISCEBS Governing Council and of the Twin Cities ISCEBS Chapter. In addition to the CEBS designation, Rick holds a business and management degree from the University of Minnesota, leads Continuing Education courses and is a regular guest instructor at St. Catherine s University.
