Introdution 1.1 LESCO is a publi limited mpany responsible for distribution of eletriity within its territorial jurisdition mprising of five distrits; Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhu Pura and Nankana of Punjab Provine. LESCO was established in 1998 under Companies Ordinane, 1984 as a result of restruturing of the Power Wing of WAPDA after the enforement of National Eletri Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Eletri Power At (XL of 1997). LESCO is presently serving approximately three Million ustomers (Domesti, Commerial, Agriultural, Industrial and others). Projet Management Unit (PMU) 1.2 LESCO Environment and Soial Cell had been established in 27 and this ell is urrently part of Projet Management Unit PMU established in 29 and headed by Chief Engineer Development. PMU mprises of four setions i.e. Planning, Sheduling & Coordination, Prourement, Finane, M.C&C, Environment & Soial Safeguard and GSC department. Projet overview 2.1 LESCO through GOP has under gone a loan, projet and finaning agreement with the Asian Development Bank under Power Distribution Enhanement Investment Projet Tranhe - H in order to strengthen its existing distribution, transmission infrastruture and institutional apaity. 7 4. Soial Management Nos. Land Aquisition and Resettlement Plans LARPs (approved by ADB) for 132 kv Grid Stations Dania Chuhak and Central Park & 3 Nos. Due Diligene Reports (approved by ADB) for 132 kv Grid Stations DHA Rahber, Jubilee Town and Press Club Housing Soiety have been prepared by IVI/s BPI and CEO LESCO approved the same on Land Aquisition and Resettlement Plans (LARPs) have been translated into Urdu and uploaded on LESCO's website ( on after approval of ADB 4.3 Clauses regarding Soial safeguards have been provided to the prourement setion to inlude in the bidding douments and EMMP & RP is the part of Bidding Doument of STG Projets on turnkey basis. 4.4 An orientation workshop on Environment and Soial Issues has been nduted on Deember 24'211. Another Training Session is planned in next quarter 4.5 Land Aquisition and Resettlement Plans LARPs have be updated keeping in view the inflation rate arding to urrent market rates as desired by ADB for Doula Chuhak and entral park grid station S transmission line. Updated LARPs have been submitted to ADB for approval on ADB reviewed and approved on Revised LARPs has been under approval of CEO LESCO and uploaded on website soon. LARPs were prepared on approved route plan and still there is no hange in route plans so there is no remarkable/major hange in the baseline data as provided in original LARPs. 5. Soial Monitoring 5.1 The land for all grid stations is in the possession of LESCO. No involuntary resettlement is involved as land for four grid stations had been provided by Housing Soieties while land for Dania Chuhak grid station is the property of LESCO for about fifteen years.

8 5.2 Civil Works has been mpleted at 132 KV Doula Chuhak grid station. Works of jubi lee town & DHA Rabber are under progress. 5.3 GSC (T&G) Division is making assessment payment to the affeted persons of feeding transmission line of Doula Chuhak. Compensation to Rs /.to affeted persons (62 towers) has been disbursed while remaining (28 towers) is under proess. Compensation has been paid on atual basis to eah affeted persons in three stages (nstrution of foundation and Eretion of tower and stringing of ndutor). Compensation has been disbursed through mmittee formulated by P.D GSC. 5.4 Augmentation works shall be arried out within existing grid stations and no land aquisition or involuntary resettlement is involved. 5.5 GSC staff has been apprised regarding soial aspets of the subprojets and on site briefing to the ntrator has also be given for effetive implementation of ILAEPs during site visits in Sep & Ot Mitigation Measures Soial Complaint Register (SCR) in English and Urdu version has been prepared and plaed at ative site in order to register the grievanes and mplaints of the stakeholders and LESCO will also ensure for same at the other projet sites Grievane Redressal Committee (GRC) has been notified for Tranhe II in order to mply with the Grievane Redressal Mehanism (GRM) desribed in LARPS.
