4 Bedbug Basics Development: Can go from egg to adult in 3 weeks in temperatures of 86 degrees Can go from egg to adult in 3 months in temperatures of 65 degrees Females can have 150 eggs in a life time Cling to surfaces and need to be scraped with attachment if using a vacuum Headboards predict where bedbugs will travel to next room

5 Bedbug Bites 20% of humans will experience an allergic reaction- itching welts, like hives. In those not allergic, bites look similar to mosquito bites. Bites typically occur on body parts that have been in contact with the mattress. No known disease transmission. Mental anguish and insomnia can result for those exposed.

6 Visual Inspection & Detection Signs of Bedbugs, What to look for: Tiny, rust colored stains that have a syrup like smell on mattress or box spring. Black residue and spotting left on the mattress or box spring. Bedbugs tend to make their way into the crevices of the mattress or behind the headboard.

17 What to do if Your Property is Infested Call a professional exterminator. In preparation for exterminator: Remove all bed linens and launder them in hot water. Dismantle all furniture and vacuum the entire room-empty the contents in a sealable bag and dispose of it. Wrap infested mattresses, box springs, curtains and furniture before removing it from the room to prevent the spreading of bed bugs to neighboring rooms. The professional will use a spray around the entire perimeter and furniture. Seal all new mattresses and box springs with mattress and box spring encasements.
