3 Introduction Welcome to the Old Mutual Wealth protection application user guide. Here you will find step-by-step information on how to complete applications online for your clients following the initial quote. 3

4 VIEW SAVED QUOTES To begin a Protect application, you will need to have already generated a quote for your client(s). For more information on how to produce a quote, please refer to our Quote Process user guide.. After logging on to the protection site, select the required quote from the Saved quotes tab from the dashboard to begin the process.. Click Continue on the quote reference number to begin the application process. Note: You can also go straight into the application from the quote without returning to the dashboard by clicking apply. 4

5 QUOTE SUMMARY. select the Apply option under the monthly premium figure.. Alternatively, select Apply at the bottom of the quote summary to begin. 3 Note: If you wish to change any information entered during the quote process, click Change policy. This will save as a new separate quote within the dashboard. (See arrow 3). 5

6 ABOUT LIVES COVERED Any information entered during the quote process will have pulled through to pre-populate the relevant fields. For further steps on this section of the application process, turn to the next page of this user guide. 6

7 ABOUT LIVES COVERED (CONT.). enter the required contact details.. Type the client s home address postcode and select Find address. Alternatively, you can enter the full address yourself by selecting enter manually. 3. select Continue to proceed. 3 7

8 POLICY DETAILS Check that all pre-populated information is correct.. You can add additional policy owners by selecting Add another policy owner.. Choose whether to use the policyholder s main address or select Other address to use an alternative correspondence address such as second residence or company address. This cannot be the life assured s address unless they are a policy holder. Turn to the next page of this user guide for further steps on this section of the application process. 8

9 POLICY DETAILS (CONT.). Choose to add any optional benefits. Please note: this will not affect the premium amount.. select Continue to proceed. 9

10 UNDERWRITING PROCESS There are two different underwriting methods to choose from. Interactive and Non-interactive : We highly recommend that you select the Interactive underwriting method. The answers you give during the process will prompt any additional questions required to generate an instant decision. The flexibility of the Interactive underwriting method allows you to skip questions and return at a later stage or switch between lives assured if required. Please note, you will not be able to get a decision until all questions have been answered. The Non-interactive method will need to be referred to an underwriter to review the application before a decision can be made. This guide will demonstrate how to use the Interactive underwriting method.. select Interactive Underwriting (recommended).. Click Continue to begin the underwriting process. 0

11 POLICY DETAILS (CONT.). enter the height and weight of the client. If you enter an imperial measurement, the metric equivalent will prepopulate and vice-versa.. Highlight whether the client consumes alcohol in any of the forms listed by clicking on each relevant box. 3. Answer Yes or No to the further alcohol and drug related questions. 4. Select Continue to proceed. 5 Note: 3 As this example indicates that the client consumes alcohol, the interactive process has prompted an additional question: How many pints of beer, lager or cider?. (See arrow 5). 4 Once all additional questions have been answered, select Continue again to proceed.

12 INSURANCE HISTORY. select Yes or No to the insurance history questions.. Select Continue to proceed. 3 Tip: For more information on the questions asked, please refer to the information boxes located on the right hand side. (See arrow 3).

13 WORK/LEISURE. enter the client s yearly salary. This is required to assist in financially underwriting the decision.. Confirm whether the client participates in flying or hazardous sports/activities. This does not include flying as a fare-paying passenger. 3. Answer the required travel/ residence question by clicking on the relevant box. 4. select Continue to proceed

14 HEALTH QUESTIONAIRE You will now have to answer questions for all of the listed categories. If you answer No to all questions, please skip to page 6 of this user guide. For an example of answering Yes to one or more of the questions, please turn to the next page of this user guide. 4

15 CONFIRMED MEDICAL CONDITION(S) This example shows that the client has confirmed to having asthma. (See arrow ). After initially clicking Continue at the bottom of the page, an additional question is generated: Please describe this condition. Start typing a description of the confirmed condition. A list of suggestions will appear below. Click the correct description to confirm. Select Continue to proceed. 3 4 Note: Following a disclosure of an illness/condition etc. you may be asked to answer further questions before proceeding on to the next step. See arrow 4 as an example. 5

16 SMOKER STATUS If you previously answered Yes to the client being a smoker, you will be asked to confirm whether or not the client is a tobacco user.. Tick the relevant box. If you answer anything other than Life-long non smoker, further questions will be generated.. Select Continue to proceed. 6

17 SUBMIT RESPONSES. Once all the required underwriting questions have been answered, select Complete and continue to confirm and proceed to the underwriting decision. What happens next? After submitting your responses, you will be given one of six underwriting decisions. As a result, you may be asked to attach the medical evidence. For steps and further information on this as well as how to submit your payment details, please refer to our Presentation of Terms and Submission user guide. 7
