1 Dear Club, TRAVEL PERMIT APPLICATION FOR (1)Any trips involving overnight stay (2) Any trips out with Scotland Scottish Gymnastics accepts that the health, safety and well being of children, young people and protected adults is the responsibility of everyone in the sport, whether paid staff or volunteers. We are committed to developing policies, procedures and guidance to ensure that those working and travelling with gymnasts adopt best practice. Above all, we must make sure that those accompanying gymnasts on trips particularly ones which involve an overnight stay, have been safely recruited and have attended the necessary training. For coaches, officials and chaperones this would be Safeguarding and Protecting Children and for the Team Manager or person in charge would be (as well as Safeguarding) the Head of Delegation (Team Manager) training. Scottish Gymnastics has developed a Club Help Pack, which was designed specifically to assist clubs with organising trips; it takes into account Risk Assessment, Safe Recruitment and Child Protection. This document can be downloaded from our website at under Ethics & Welfare, Health & Safety. Additionally, clubs should make sure that relevant insurance cover is in place for everyone travelling in the party. When deciding on insurance, clubs should perhaps look at one which provides cover in the event of an accident occurring outwith the competition/display event. Although travel insurance is not mandatory, it is advisable to have this in place particularly for trips out with the UK. Note: travel insurance must include cover from the day of departure to the day of return. You can purchase travel insurance from any provider of your choice, or you can arrange travel insurance at a competitive price through Scottish Gymnastics with Central Insurance Services to obtain a quote please contact our Member Services department. In order to allow Scottish Gymnastics sufficient time to process your paperwork, approve your permit and to arrange travel insurance if required, please return the attached documents at least 4 weeks prior to the start of your trip.
