CHOICE OF MOTOR POLICIES Hassle-free NCD Transfer Third Party Cover Insures you against claims for bodily injuries or deaths caused to other persons (known as the third party), as well as loss or damage to third party property caused by your vehicle. Third Party, Fire and Theft Cover Provides you with Third Party Cover and also loss or damage to your own vehicle due to accidental fire or theft. Comprehensive Cover This policy provides the widest coverage. Provides you cover as in Third Party, Fire and Theft Cover plus physical damage to your vehicle due to accidental collision or overturning. EXCLUSIONS The standard Motor Insurance Policy DOES NOT cover: Your own death or bodily injury; Your liability against claims from passengers; Theft of non-factory fitted vehicles accessories (car stereos, leather seats, sports rims etc) unless otherwise declared; Consequential loss, depreciation, wear and tear, mechanical or electrical breakdown failures or breakages; and Loss/damage arising from an act of nature e.g. flood, landslide and landslip. 3 DRIVER S PERSONAL ACCIDENT COVER AN IMPORTANT OPTION TO CONSIDER For the insured and family This covers the insured and his/her family against death or disablement whilst: boarding, alighting, driving or travelling in any private vehicles other than motorcycles and/or scooters. as a pedestrian in an accident involving any road vehicle and railway train. travelling as a fare-paying passenger on any railway train, licensed ferry boat or cruise ship. For passengers and authorised drivers This policy also covers all passengers and any authorised driver(s) whilst travelling or driving in the insured s vehicle. [Premium Charged 50% loading of Basic Premium] * For Comprehensive Private Car only INSURANCE POLICY AND ROAD TAX To register your vehicle and to renew your Road Tax, insurance companies will transmit your motor insurance information electronically to the Road Transport Department (RTD). You will receive a confirmation slip containing details of your motor cover as confirmation of the purchase of your motor insurance. Thereafter, within one month, you should receive: The Schedule which shows your name and address, details of the vehicle, the sum insured (for Comprehensive and Third Party Fire & Theft policies), the period of insurance, the policy number, your NCD entitlement, premium breakdown, excess and named drivers; The Certificate of Insurance which shows your name, vehicle model, registration number and cubic capacity, period of insurance, authorised drivers and limitations of use; and The Motor Policy which shows the terms and conditions of cover provided. IMPORTANT POINTS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING MOTOR INSURANCE POLICIES Insured value/sum insured If you are buying a policy against loss/damage to your vehicle, you must ensure that your vehicle is adequately insured as it will affect the amount you can claim in the event of loss/damage. For a new vehicle, the insured value will be the purchase price while for other vehicles, the insured value is the market value of the vehicle at the point you apply for the insurance policy. Under-insurance If you insure your vehicle at a lower sum than its market value, you will be deemed as self-insured for the difference, i.e. in the event of loss/damage, you will only be partially compensated (up to the proportion of insurance) by your insurance company. Over-insurance Should you insure your vehicle at a higher sum than its market value, the maximum compensation you will receive is the market value of the vehicle as the policy owner cannot profit from a motor insurance claim. Premium The premium you pay for your motor insurance will depend on the type of policy selected. The insurance premium charged is the standard minimum rate in accordance with the Motor Tariff. However, in addition to the standard minimum rate, we may impose additional premiums known as loadings to the premium payable in view of higher risk factors involved such as age of vehicle and claims experience. Loadings are governed by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and no insurance company may charge loadings higher than the levels permitted by BNM. No-Claim-Discount The premium payable may be reduced if you have No-Claim-Discount (NCD) entitlement. NCD is a reward scheme for you if no claim was made against your policy during the preceding 12 months of policy. Different NCD rates are applicable for different classes of vehicles. For a private car, the scale of NCD ranges from 25% to 55% as provided in the policy. Excess Also known as a deductible. This is the amount of loss you have to bear before we will pay for the balance of your vehicle damage claim. 4 IMPORTANT POINTS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING MOTOR INSURANCE POLICIES (Cont d) Compulsory excess of RM400 If your vehicle is driven by a person not named in your policy or a person named in your policy who is under the age of 21, the holder of a provisional (L) driving licence or the holder of a full driving licence of less than two years.! IMPORTANT NOTES: The insurance shall not be effective unless the premium payable has been paid. The descriptions of cover are a brief summary for quick and easy reference. Kindly contact MSIG Customer Service staff for assistance. In the event of a conflict between the English and the translated versions of this brochure, the English version shall prevail. ANSWERS TO YOUR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1. What are the procedures for me to cancel my policy? What if the Company decides to cancel my policy? You may cancel the cover at any time by notifying us in writing. Within seven days of the cancellation, you must surrender to us the certificate of insurance or alternatively provide us with a statutory declaration. We may also cancel this cover by giving you 14 days notice by registered post to your last know address. Details of the refund of premium are stated in the Policy, Cancellation Condition No How do I make a claim? Please provide a written notice to the Company with full details within seven (7) days upon receiving notice of or sustaining any accident, loss or damage. You may contact any MSIG Branch or your insurance adviser to obtain a copy of the claim form. Submit the completed claim form to the Company together with all relevant documents as soon as possible. 3. How do I enrol for the policy? Just complete the attached proposal form and send it to us, or your insurance adviser, for immediate processing. 4. How do I lodge a complaint if I am unhappy with the product or services? If you have a complaint about our product or services, or you are not satisfied with the rejection or offer of any settlement of a claim, you should first try to resolve the complaint with our Customer Service Centre. If you are still not satisfied with the decision, you can write either to the Customer Services Bureau of Bank Negara Malaysia or the Financial Mediation Bureau, free of charge. MANFAAT PILIHAN DENGAN PREMIUM TAMBAHAN Perlindungan Cermin Kereta* Melindungi pemecahan kaca cermin kereta di depan, belakang dan sebelah. Cermin kereta yang pecah akan digantikan dan NCD anda tidak akan berubah. 6 POLISI INSURANS DAN CUKAI JALAN Untuk mendaftarkan kenderaan anda dan memperbaharui Cukai Jalan anda, syarikat insurans akan menghantar maklumat insurans motor anda secara elektronik kepada Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalanraya (JPJ). Anda akan menerima satu slip pengesahan yang mengandungi maklumat perlindungan motor anda sebagai bukti pembelian insurans motor. Sebulan kemudian anda akan menerima yang berikut: Jadual yang menunjukkan nama dan alamat anda, butir-butir kenderaan, jumlah diinsuranskan (bagi polisi Komprehensif dan Pihak Ketiga, Kebakaran dan Kecurian), jangkamasa insurans, nombor polisi, kelayakan NCD anda, pecahan premium, lebihan dan pemandu yang dinamakan; Sijil Insurans yang menunjukkan nama anda, model kenderaan, nombor pendaftaran dan kapasiti kubik, jangkamasa insurans, pemandu yang didaftarkan dan had penggunaan; dan Polisi Motor yang menunjukkan terma-terma dan syarat-syarat perlindungan yang diberikan. PERKARA-PERKARA PENTING YANG HARUS DIPERTIMBANGKAN BILA MEMBELI POLISI INSURANS MOTOR Jumlah diinsuranskan Jika anda membeli satu polisi untuk melindungi kerugian/kerosakan kenderaan anda, anda mesti memastikan kenderaan anda diinsuranskan dengan jumlah yang mencukupi kerana jumlah pampasan apabila berlaku kerugian/kerosakan bergantung kepadanya. Bagi kenderaan baru, jumlah diinsuranskan adalah harga pembelian kenderaan manakala bagi kenderaan lain, jumlah diinsuranskan adalah harga pasaran kenderaan semasa anda memohon untuk polisi insurans. Jumlah diinsuranskan di bawah harga pasaran Jika kenderaan anda diinsuranskan pada jumlah di bawah harga pasaran, perbezaan itu akan dianggap diinsuranskan oleh anda sendiri, iaitu apabila berlaku kerugian/kerosakan, anda akan menerima pampasan setakat jumlah yang diinsuranskan sahaja. Jumlah diinsuranskan melebihi harga pasaran Jika kenderaan anda diinsuranskan pada jumlah yang melebihi harga pasaran, pampasan maksimum yang akan diterima oleh anda adalah harga pasaran kenderaan sahaja kerana pemegang polisi tidak boleh mengambil untung daripada tuntutan insurans motor. Premium Premium yang dibayar bergantung kepada jenis polisi yang dipilih. Kadar premium adalah mengikuti kadar minimum piawaian menurut Tarif Motor. Walau bagaimanapun, bebanan premium ke atas kadar minimum piawaian boleh dikenakan memandangkan faktor risiko yang lebih tinggi disebabkan oleh usia kenderaan dan pengalaman tuntutan. Bebanan premium adalah diseliakan oleh Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) dan tiada syarikat insurans yang boleh mengenakan bebanan premium melebihi tahap yang dibenarkan oleh BNM. Diskaun Tiada Tuntutan Premium yang dibayar boleh dikurangkan jika anda layak untuk Diskaun Tiada Tuntutan (No-Claim-Discount, NCD). NCD merupakan ganjaran kepada anda kerana tidak membuat tuntutan ke atas polisi anda sepanjang 12 bulan lalu. Kadar NCD yang berbeza disediakan untuk kelas kenderaan yang berbeza. Bagi kereta persendirian, kadar NCD adalah di antara 25% hingga 55% sebagaimana yang dinyatakan di dalam polisi. Lebihan (Ekses) Juga dikenali sebagai deduktibel. Ini merupakan jumlah kerugian yang mesti ditanggung oleh anda sebelum kami membuat pampasan ke atas tuntutan kerosakan kenderaan anda. Sila beri notis bertulis kepada syarikat bersama dengan butir-butir penuh dalam masa tujuh (7) hari selepas menerima notis atau mengalami sebarang kemalangan, kerugian atau kerosakan. Anda boleh hubungi mana-mana cawangan MSIG atau penasihat insurans anda untuk memperolehi borang tuntutan. Hantar borang tuntutan yang dilengkapi kepada syarikat bersama dokumendokumen berkenaan secepat mungkin. 3. Bagaimanakah saya membuat permohonan untuk polisi ini? Hanya lengkapkan borang permohonan yang disertakan dan hantarkannya kepada kami atau penasihat insurans anda untuk diproses dengan segera. 4. Bagaimanakah saya mengemukakan aduan kalau saya tidak berpuas hati dengan produk atau perkhidmatan? Jika anda ingin mengadu tentang produk atau perkhidmatan kami, atau anda tidak berpuas hati dengan tawaran atau keputusan syarikat ke atas tuntutan, anda boleh mendapatkan bantuan daripada Pusat Perkhidmatan Pelanggan kami.
