Ms. Melanie Schumacher has worked closely with the organizations Agri-Culture and the Cruz County Farm Bureau to raise funds for the display to ensure the display is fabricated as outlined in the design proposal. Again this year, Agri-Culture has offered to be the lead agency for the 2011 Santa Cruz County California State Fair Display, which would allow this agency to create a display design and raise funds for fabrication at no cost to the County. If your Board decides to accept Agri-Culture's offer, your Board would designate them as the Santa Cruz County Exhibit Representative. Attached is a copy of Ms. Schumacher's cover letter and State Fair entry form. If your Board approves the request, your Board would also be required to approve and submit to the State Fair the official entry form. It is therefore Recommended that your Board: 1. Designate Agri-Culture as the lead organization responsible for the 2011 Santa Cruz County display for the State and County fairs; and 2. Direct the Chair of the Board to sign the 2011 Counties Exhibit Form; and 3. Direct the Director of Parks, Open Space and Cultural Services to serve as the County's liaison with Ms. Schumacher and provide the necessary paperwork and assistance for the 2011 State Fair Display. The Mission of the Santa Cruz County Department of Parks, Open Space and Cultnral Services is to provide safe, well designed and maintained parks and a wide variety of recreational and cultural opportunities for our diverse community. 8~ '-,

County shall provide proof of commercial general liability insurance coverage with minimum limits of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence combined single limit for bodily injury and propert damage and cover damages for bodily injury, propert damage, personal injury liabilty, and products and completed operations liabilty. Santa Cruz County Parks, Open Space and Cultural Services th Avenue Santa Cruz, CA Dear Director Schultz, The planning and preparation for the 2011 Santa Cruz County Exhibit for the California State Fair will soon be underway as Agrj-Culture (with assistance from the Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau) requests to be designated as the Lead Agency responsible for this year's State Fair Exhibit. Our organization spear~eaded the efforts to renew Santa Cruz County's participation in the State Fair's Counties Exhibit Program and has been designated Lead Agency for the Exhibit for the last five years ( ). The 2011 State Fair will be held in Sacramento at Cal Expo for 18 days, from July 14-July 31. There are several benefits of having a Santa Cruz County Exhibit at the State Fair: 1. The exhibit is a great opportunity for public outreach. State Fair Officials expect over 1,000,000 fairgoers to see these County Exhibits. 2. The exhibit stands for good public relations with the State as well as other Counties. By participating in the County Exhibits Program, we unite with other Counties who are proud of what they have to offer California. 3, The exhibit promotes tourism of our County which will help increase our economy. Again, Agri-Culture respectfully rêquests to be designated Exhibit at the State Fair in Sacramento, as Lead Agency for the Santa Cruz County Enclosed is the Offcial Entry Form that needs to be submitted to the State Fair Offices.
