8 First Diagnosis Cancer Unfortunately, almost everyone knows someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. Even with medical health insurance, cancer patients can still be hit with numerous unexpected expenses. By having a lump-sum cash benefit in place, your customers can help offset the financial burden if cancer strikes. Make sure your customers are aware of the many out-of-pocket costs related to a cancer diagnosis and how a Medico cancer plan can help protect their income and savings. Policy Benefits Issue Ages age last birthday Covered Benefits The policy pays cash in one lump sum upon pathological diagnosis of internal cancer or malignant melanoma (this excludes all other skin cancers). Plan Options $10,000, $15,000, $20,000 or $25,000 Optional Inflation Protection: Automatically increases the cash benefit amount 5% of the original cash benefit amount each year the policy is in force. 9 Hospital Indemnity (HIA63 Policy) Even with the best primary insurance plan, when your client is hospitalized for an injury or illness, there will probably be medical expenses and out-of-pocket costs that aren t covered. A hospital indemnity insurance plan provides cash benefits to use however your client wants. The benefits are preset and paid regardless of any other insurance your client may have. Whether your client wants a plan that provides hospitalization benefits only, or one that also covers outpatient rehabilitation, outpatient surgery and skilled nursing facility benefits, Medico s Hospital Indemnity (HIA63) coverage can provide comfort and security during a difficult time. Policy Benefits (HIA63) Availability Issue Ages years of age Available May 1, 2018 in the following states: Plan Options Optional Benefit Riders Underwriting Household Discount Pays for each day of confinement in a hospital. 10 Short-Term Recovery Care Unexpected illness or injury can quickly drain your customers savings and retirement funds. Short-Term Recovery Care helps fill coverage gaps for clients who cannot afford or qualify for long term care insurance or those who have long term care insurance but need to supplement coverage during their waiting period. A Short- Term Recovery Care plan provides comprehensive coverage with several benefit options including benefit duration, wait period and daily benefit amount. We are the only base policy on the market that covers all five major confinement situations (home health, nursing facility, adult day care, assisted living and hospice care), allowing customers the flexibility to make decisions at the time care is needed. 11 Final Expense The death of a loved one may bring distress to the survivor. All too frequently, this hardship is compounded by a financial loss that could have been minimized or eliminated altogether with adequate life insurance. Your client may think that a final expense policy is needed only to pay for a funeral. There are many other financial needs that can be met with a Final Expense Whole Life Insurance Policy, such as estate settlement costs, income replacement, outstanding debts, or maybe even a college fund. Level Benefits Graded Benefits Issue Ages Age Age Age Age Covered Benefits Immediate Death Benefit No benefit for the first two years for nonaccidental death: However, premiums paid will be returned, less any policy loan, plus 10% interest on the total premium.
