1 UNSW Digital Guide Competition 2017 Terms and Conditions By entering the UNSW Open Day 2017: Digital Guide Competition (the Competition), you agree to the following Terms and Conditions: 1. Competition Organiser The organiser of the Competition is the University of New South Wales ABN of UNSW Sydney, NSW 2052 (UNSW Sydney). 2. Who can enter 2.1 Entry into the Competition is open to high school students who are enrolled in an Australian high school during the period from Monday 21 August 2017 to Saturday 2 September 2017 (Participants). 2.2 Employees of UNSW Sydney and their immediate family members are ineligible to enter. Employees refers to full-time and part-time employees, employed on either a permanent, fixed term or casual basis. Immediate family members refers to children and siblings of the UNSW Sydney employee. 3. How to Enter 3.1 The Competition commences at 5.00pm AEST on Monday 21 August 2017 and closes at 3.59pm AEST on Saturday 2 September 2017 (Competition Period). 3.2 Participants must comply with these Terms and Conditions to be eligible to win a prize. 3.3 To enter the Competition, Participants must, during the Competition Period, correctly fill out all fields on the Personalised Guide form (which can be accessed at (Competition entry form) and submit the completed Competition entry form to UNSW by 3:59pm on Saturday 2 September Incomplete entries will be deemed invalid and excluded from the Competition. 1

2 3.5 An entry must be received on the Competition entry form by 3:59pm AEST on Saturday 2 September Entries not submitted during the Competition Period will not be valid entries and will not be eligible to win. 3.6 A Participant may submit a maximum of one (1) entry. 4. Verifying Eligibility UNSW Sydney reserves the right at any time, to verify the eligibility of Participants and the validity of entries, and to disqualify any Participant who does not meet the eligibility criteria in clauses 2 and 3 of these Terms and Conditions, or who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. All of UNSW Sydney s decisions about the eligibility of entrants and validity of entries will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. 5. How to win and prize details 5.1 This is a competition based on chance. The winners will be determined by way of a random computer-generated selection of the entries submitted by Participants. The selection will take place at 4pm on Saturday 2 September 2017 (Draw). The prizes and conditions that must be met to receive a prize 5.2 There will be four equal prize winners, who will win one (1) prize each. The prize for each winning entry is: a Westfield Gift Voucher worth $500 (Prize). 5.3 The Prize will be awarded to each of the four winners at the following specified times and in the following ways: (a) (b) If a winner is physically present on the UNSW Sydney Kensington campus at the time of the Draw (4pm on Saturday 2 September 2017), the Prize could be awarded to the winner in person shortly following the Draw. If a winner is not physically present on the UNSW Sydney Kensington campus at the time of the Draw, the Prize will be sent to the winner by post, after there has been contact between the Organiser and the winning Participant as referred to in clause A Prize is not transferable or exchangeable or redeemable for cash. 5.5 Where UNSW Sydney decides that a winner has failed to satisfy the conditions set out in clause 5.3 of these Terms and Conditions, the winner will not be eligible to receive their prize. UNSW Sydney s decisions about the eligibility of winners to receive their prize will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. 2

3 Announcement and notification of winners 5.6 The four winners will be announced by 6pm AEST on Monday 4 th September 2017 on The announcement will state the winner s name and high school (as specified by the Participant when he or she completed the Competition entry form). Each Participant agrees, if he or she is one of the winners of the Competition, to UNSW Sydney making and publishing such public announcements which name him or her as one of the winners and state his or her school. 5.7 By 6pm AEST on Monday 4 th September 2017, UNSW Sydney will contact each of the four winners and inform them that their entry has been a winning entry. UNSW will contact each of the winners via the address which they provided when completing the Competition entry form. Where a winner has not already collected their prize in person as referred to in clause 5.3(a), the winner must reply to UNSW Sydney by within 14 days to claim their prize, before UNSW will send the Prize to the winner. 6. Unclaimed prize In the event that a winner does not comply with the conditions set out in clause 5 of these Terms and Conditions, he or she forfeits all rights to the prize (or proportion of the prize) and the prize (or proportion of the prize) will be deemed unclaimed. The selection of an alternate valid entry will be determined in the sole discretion of UNSW Sydney. UNSW Sydney reserves the right to award the prize to another valid entry. In such circumstances, the new winner(s) will be notified via the address they specified when completing the Competition entry form. 7. Prize Unavailability 7.1 In the event that for whatever reason, a prize described above is unavailable, UNSW Sydney reserves the right to substitute for the unavailable prize, a prize of equal or greater value. 7.2 UNSW Sydney s rights under these Terms and Conditions are subject to and limited by all applicable laws. 8. Privacy 8.1 By entering the Competition, each Participant is deemed to have expressly consented to the collection, storage, disclosure and use of their personal information for the purposes identified in these Terms and Conditions in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) and all other applicable privacy legislation. 8.2 UNSW Sydney may collect, store and use personal information collected from or in relation to Participants in order to conduct the Competition and for related purposes referred to in paragraph 9.3 below, and may, to conduct the Competition and for the related purposes, 3

4 disclose such information to third parties including but not limited to UNSW Partner organisations, other Australian universities, agents, contractors, prize suppliers, and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities. 8.3 By entering the Competition, each Participant acknowledges and agrees that UNSW Sydney may, for an indefinite period, unless otherwise requested by the Participant in accordance with clause 9.4, collect, store, disclose and use all personal information collected by UNSW Sydney from or in relation to the Participant in connection with this Competition for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes. Limitation of Liability 9.1. To the maximum extent permitted by law and subject to applicable law, in the case of the intervention of any outside act or event which prevents or significantly hinders UNSW Sydney s ability to proceed with the Competition on the dates and in the manner described in these Terms and Conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, UNSW Sydney may in its absolute discretion cancel the Competition at any time and UNSW Sydney will have no liability to any Participant or any other person as a result of such cancellation. 9.2 To the maximum extent permitted by law and subject to applicable law, UNSW Sydney will not be liable for any misadventure, accident, injury, loss, cost, expense or claim (including but not limited to a claim for infringement of any copyright, trade mark or other intellectual property right, or any claim of a similar nature) that may occur or be sustained in connection with, or as a result of, a Participant s entry to the Competition. 9.3 UNSW Sydney s rights and obligations under these Terms and Conditions are subject to and limited by all applicable laws and regulations. 4
