2 SDGs Implementation Process in Kazakhstan: summary Kazakhstan joined the Global Development Agenda until 2030, September Rapid Assessment of Willingness to the SDGs Implementation Process (MAPS Mission), November "Nationalization of the SDGs" - the State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan instructed the Government until to elaborate : issues on coordinating the implementation of the SDGs and their implementation in the strategic plans of the GA and M&E establishment of a monitoring mechanism, as well as the improvement of SDGs statistics

3 SDGs Implementation Process in Kazakhstan: summary The Committee on Statistics: established an interdepartmental working group on the SDGs monitoring with the participation of civil society, NGOs, research institutes, the private sector and UN agencies carried out a number of activities, including in the field of agricultural and environmental statistics with the support of various UN agencies (FAO, UNECE, UNEP) organized the first national technical meeting on SDGs statistics with the participation of all stakeholders

4 SDGs Implementation Process in Kazakhstan: summary The Committee on Statistics: In cooperation with Interdepartmental Working Group: carried out assessment of willingness of the national statistical system to produce SDGs indicators identified the alignment of global SDGs indicators to national priorities established national indicators prepared draft system of indicators for SDGs monitoring (more than 300 indicators, 70 of which are national) Together with UN-Women, organized trainings for civil society and the media on gender-related SDGs

5 Statistical Capacity: KAZSTAT Project Objective: To strengthen the capacity of the national statistical system Financing 22.8 million US dollars, of which 2.8 million allocated by the Government of Kazakhstan, 20 million - a loan from the World Bank Period of implementation: 5 years, Partners: Statistical offices in Germany, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, South Korea and Russia

7 Main results of the KAZSTAT Project Human resources capacity building: about 450 training events with the participation of the regions and other CS took place Development of stat. methodology: 80 methods were developed and improved, 5 new observations were introduced Technical capacity building: the site is modernized, IIS "e-statistics is introduced IAS "Taldau" is introduced new systems of data collection are introduced : КСИО и КСТО "laboratory" of preliminary testing The Development Master Plan for was developed.

8 Global Assessment of the National Statistical System During the global assessment, experts noted a number of improvements since 2008: HR and technical capacities have been increased Legal framework has been improved Improvement of statistical methodology in all key areas, implementation of quality reports Use of international standards has been expanded, the GA use national statistical classifications

9 Statistical Capacity: administrative data sources Clear legal framework for obtaining administrative data: The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On State Statistics", the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Administrative Offense Coordination on the collection of administrative data with the CS: mandatory, in the absence of coordination - penalties Unified Reporting Register formed by the GA: from 2013 Approximately 2,000 reporting forms have been considered, 37% of reporting forms are reduced

12 Future plans: Plans for in the field of administrative data: Integration with 4 information systems of other state bodies (MoF, MLSPP, NB, MIВ) Creation of a unified Classifier of indicators generated by the state bodies comparison of indicators of administrative sources with indicators of official statistics

13 Future plans Plans for in the field of SDGs statistics: to coordinate with the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan a national system of indicators for SDGs monitoring to develop a national "Roadmap for SDGs statistics" to carry out the first collection of data on SDGs to prepare the first national report on SDGs statistics / monitoring

14 Future Plans In general, in the medium term: combined method of data collection (tablet computers + Internet) will be used during the National Population Census in 2019 the use of scanner data and "big data" to calculate the CPI and in the field of transport statistics will be considered
