1 Governance Council Minutes April 7, 2015, Tuesday Introductory material The agenda was approved for the meeting and the minutes approved from the last meeting. Discussion on Brown Act and meeting guidelines. Reviewed the schedule from SBAC Testing. Reviewed the ECAST (see attached) Decided to have a meeting in two weeks to discuss budget / staffing Budget Discussion Next week in the AM we will be having budget meetings to discuss holly to the list Noted that displaced teachers will be offered to interview for open positions in the magnet Next week the matrix will be posted by 4/17/15 Course assignments will be given the last two weeks of school Discussion about the matrix / budget letters could change the matrix Discussed the differences in class size norms for general school and magnet and how it changes the matrix. Scheduling magnet becomes harder when dealing with 75/25 rule etc. when making the master schedule Half of the time magnet teachers must teach magnet classes Discussion of benefit of having a magnet program Budget committee will look at norm allocations vs. letter allocations Note that we should use the table labeling where we want to buy all the positions and what budget they come from and this chart would be a good way for us to advocate for the positions that we want Curriculum and instruction Part of a pilot to provide school-wide online service Discussion of wifi Calendar committee Set up some sort of protocol regarding calendaring items Recommendation that someone from calendar committee needs to be on governance Recommendation to deal with calendar committee after the budget.
