Be Prepared At a drive-up facility, keep your doors locked and all passenger windows closed. No matter where you conduct your ATM transaction, try to minimize the time you spend at the machine. This can be done by having your card ready and all the transactions prepared when you approach an ATM. ATM Tips To Keep You Safe Be Aware Make sure to maintain an awareness of your surroundings. Be wary of people who try to help you with your ATM transaction. Also, be on the lookout for anyone sitting in a parked car nearby. When leaving an ATM, make sure you are not being followed. If you are being followed, immediately call 11 and go to the nearest public area where there are people. Keep A Safe Distance Do not allow people to look over your shoulder as you enter your Personal Identifcation Number (PIN). If you sense another person crowding you or attempting to view your transaction, cancel the transaction and leave the location. Be Subtle Refrain from displaying your cash at an ATM. As soon as your transaction is complete, place your money in your purse or wallet. Count the cash later in the safety of your car or home. Be sure to take your ATM receipt with you.
