3 EXPECTATIONS: Credit Recovery (CR) is an efficient way for students to recover credit if they failed a class. The program is completed online and is geared towards the self-motivated, self-directed, independent student. Students are expected to ensure that they have a working, Internet-ready computer from which to complete the class. Please read the information below carefully as expectations will be strictly followed. Exceptions to our procedures and deadlines will not be given. GRADING 40% Course Work 20% Tutorials, applications 20% Mastery Tests *Please note: In order for a 100% overall grade in this area of the course, students must MASTER the content with an 80% or better. Falling below the 80% will result in a lower percentage, affecting the overall grade of the course. Students do not get 100% in this area just for completion. Therefore, it is recommended that students re-take/re-learn these areas of the course in order to reach the 80% mastery level. Can be taken at home or in the lab Must be finished before the post tests and/or final exam Discussions, tutorials, applications, mastery tests Offline activities do not need to be completed Mastery tests will not be unlocked or reset. Students can do this on their own by re-taking the application/tutorial above it and scoring an 80% or better. 40% Post Tests Can be taken at home or in the lab All post tests must be finished one session prior to taking the final exam Re-takes are possible, only if student comes into the lab to take the post test and provides detailed, handwritten notes for that particular unit. Post tests will not be reset on the last day of the session. 20% Final Exam Must be taken at WMHS w/academic coach during lab hours or a failing grade will be given for the course per district policy. Course work and post-tests must have been completed prior to the final exam being unlocked. Can only be taken once, so use your handwritten notes and take your time to do your best. 4 STUDENTS ABSENT (verified or not) WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE-UP THE FINAL EXAM, THEREFORE FAILING THE COURSE. Students may finish the course early, taking the final exam before the indicated deadline, but not thereafter as the system closes the last day of the session. + 5% Handwritten Notes Students that take notes throughout the course for every unit will be granted a 5% grade increase in their course. Must be handwritten, organized, labeled and highlighted. Must be taken in the back of this handbook in the expected format at least 1-full page per unit. Please Note: Anything below a 60% is failing and students will have to take the course again paying an additional $60.00 fee. 5 Enrollment & Payment: $60.00 per 0.5 credit hours Payments can be made on-line via the Credit Recovery Payments may also be made through WMHS bookkeeper. Please note that the office is closed during the summer session, therefore payments can only be made online. TO ENROLL INTO THE PROGRAM: o Enrollment is during open lab hours ONLY o Students will need their printed receipt stapled to the registration form from their counselor. o Each student will be enrolled into ONE course at a time and therefore will only be allowed to pay for ONE course at a time. o Do not pay for multiple courses as refunds will not be given. o You may sign up for an additional course once the current class is finished with a passing grade. Once that is complete, students will have to follow the enrollment process for their next course by the closing date indicated. 4 > Academics > Credit Recovery

7 GETTING STARTED IN THE PROGRAM Follow these step-by-step directions to access your CR course and get started in the program! 1. Go to and hover over the Academics link, then select Credit Recovery. 6 > Academics > Credit Recovery

8 2. It will direct you to the Credit Recovery website. Sign up for text message reminders under MESSAGES if you haven t done so already. 7 > Academics > Credit Recovery

9 3. When finished signing up for text message reminders, click the Edmentum link. The following screen will appear. You will then type in your login information: Account login: PLATO name: Password: MCC6 Student ID number Student ID number 8 > Academics > Credit Recovery

10 4. When this message appears; click CONTINUE. 5. You are now in your account and ready to work. Your home page will look like the screen below. Click on Begin/Continue to work on the class that you are currently enrolled in. MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE ENROLLED IN THE CORRECT CLASS. IF YOU ARE NOT, PLEASE CONTACT THE ACADEMIC COACHES IMMEDIATELY. IF YOU DO NOT, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT FOR TAKING THE WRONG CLASS. 9 > Academics > Credit Recovery

11 6. Lastly, click the section where you are starting from and you ll begin the section! You will begin the work in consecutive order. You must complete the entire unit before your post test will be unlocked during lab hours. Post tests will not be unlocked until all of your course work is complete for the unit and students attend the open lab to take their test > Academics > Credit Recovery

12 Credit Recovery In order for a reset on a post test or to receive 5% extra credit to your final grade, please read the following rules carefully. Notes: 1. Must be handwritten, 2. Must be completed as you go through the course work for every unit, 3. Must least 2-full pages PER UNIT, 4. Must be labeled and highlighted as indicated, 5. Must be presented in order for a post test to be reset, 6. Must be presented on the day student final is taken in order to receive 5% extra credit to final grade, 7. Must be done exactly as indicated above or extra credit will not be given and/or post test will not be reset, 8. Once session closes, notes will not be accepted thereafter, 9. There will be no exceptions to these rules, 10. If you have any questions about the notes, it is your responsibility to ask well before the session ends > Academics > Credit Recovery
