This disease does not discriminate and impacts men and women of all ages and ethnicities. Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality among the leading cancer killers. 94% of pancreatic cancer patients will die within five years of diagnosis only 6% will survive more than five years. 76% of patients die within the first year of diagnosis. There are no early diagnostic tools and there is no cure. This year, 43,140 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and 36,800 will die from the disease. It is the most under-funded, under-recognized and least-studied of all major cancer killers with less than 2% of the National Cancer Institute s annual budget dedicated to pancreatic cancer research.
