4 . 0 MUNICIPALITY MEMORANDUM OF ANCHORAGE CLERl\S OFFICE DATE: May, 000 To: FROM: Assembly Members Mayor Rick SUBJECT: Veto of Assembly Motions and Reducing the Applied Fund Balance and Increasing the Areawide General Mill Levy I am vetoing the motions and actions, passed by a majority of the Assembly, that had the effect of taxing the citizens an additional $ million in order to increase the Municipality's reserves an additional $ million. The Municipality's current available reserves include an $ million reserve account from the A TU sale, $0 million received last week from the Police and Fire Retirement settlement and more than $ million in fund balance. This is over $0 million in reserves accessible by Assembly vote. In addition, the Municipality has a trust fund of over $ million accessible by a vote of the citizens. I believe it is inappropriate to raise taxes another $ million for the purpose of increasing accessible reserves from $0 million to $ million.
