Increasingly, U. S. corporations are seeking employees with cross-cultural competence and linguistic proficiency, which has often led companies to hire international business professionals. Search for study abroad programs by clicking the Programs link on the Study Abroad website Meet with your business academic advisor to learn what degree requirements you need to fulfill and how your study abroad program will help you do this Meet with an ASU Study Abroad Office International Coordinator to discuss program specific information and the application process Apply by MARCH 1 for Fall, Academic Year and most Summer programs Apply by SEPTEMBER 25 for Spring programs. international business certificate: You can expand your horizons and your opportunities by learning about the global economy. W. P. Carey has partnerships with universities in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Experience new cultures, visit new places and build intercultural and language skills all while fulfilling requirements toward an International Business Certificate! Overseas internships are also offered in conjunction with the Study Abroad Office at ASU. Specific requirements can be found at: W. P. Carey International Business Certificate Studying in Bilbao, Spain, has given me a new perspective on American culture that I would have never been able to understand otherwise. All the while I received credit for my studies here at ASU, learned Spanish, travelled to most of Western Europe, and made friends from all over the globe. Jacob Fishman, Finance Major, University of Duesto planning your program abroad: Students can study abroad for a semester, academic year, or summer session. For summer abroad, students should plan on going abroad the summer after sophomore (or junior) year. Second semester sophomore year is the recommended semester to study abroad, though it can be done at other times. Students should plan to study abroad when they have completed at least the following lower division business pre-requisites: ACC 231: Uses of Accounting Info I ACC 241: Uses of Accounting Info II CIS 105: Computer Applications and Info Technology ECN 211: Macroeconomic Principles ECN 212: Microeconomic Principles ECN 221: Business Statistics MAT 210: Brief Calculus MAT 211/271: Math for Business Analysis Many degree requirements can be fulfilled abroad. Some good courses to save for a study abroad program include: MGT 300: Organizational and Management Leadership MKT 300: Marketing and Business Performance FIN 300: Fundamentals of Finance MGT 302: Principles of International Business Major Electives International Business Certificate Electives General Education Electives To get the most out of your study abroad program, it is recommended to start planning as early as possible. You should plan to take approximately 3 classes for your major and international business certificate, and round out your schedule with general studies, or language and culture courses.

3 can i afford to study abroad? Yes! If going abroad is a priority, you can make it happen. Early planning for international experiences helps students make cost-effective program decisions, and it also helps them prepare their finances through savings, scholarships, and financial aid. There is a great deal of variation in costs, and students should carefully consider all options before making a decision. When comparing the cost of programs abroad, be sure to look at the costs of attending ASU for living and tuition. The cost of going abroad can be comparable in many cases, and the difference can be made up with scholarships or aid. financing your program: Studying abroad is an investment in your future. Like any other type of investment, it requires careful planning and management. However, the personal, academic, and professional rewards that you will gain from this experience will last a lifetime. Detailed program cost information, including all direct program costs (as well as estimated expenses) is available for ASU study abroad programs. On the specific webpage for your selected program, you will see a section called Cost Sheets toward the top of the page. Select the cost sheet for the term to which you are interested in applying. financial aid Students currently receiving financial aid who are enrolled in an ASU study abroad program are eligible to use that aid toward paying their program tuition and/or program fees. Students not currently receiving aid will need to file a FAFSA. Instructions on filing your FAFSA can be found on the ASU Financial Aid website. scholarships and grants There are several study abroad grant and scholarship opportunities available at ASU. The Study Abroad Office offers Need Based Travel Grants you can apply for. Detailed information can be found on the Financing Your Program page of the Study Abroad website. The W. P. Carey School of Business offers merit based scholarships for high achieving students: Those students who are also completing a double major or minor in another discipline should explore possible scholarship options within those colleges, such as the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. In some instances, ASU study abroad programs also offer program-specific scholarships or grants which are available to students enrolled in that program. Gilman International Scholarship Study Abroad at Strathclyde University in Scotland has been not only my best academic experience, but probably my best life experience so far...at Strathclyde I was able to meet and learn from students and professionals from all over world. I was able to immerse myself in a different culture and experience school and business in way that was new and meaningful. I enjoyed my experience so much at Strathclyde and in Scotland that I am looking to go back and apply for post-graduate school there.
