Open Enrollment is happening NOW When is Open Enrollment for 2018 benefits? Began: Oct. 3, 2017 at 8 a.m. Ends: Oct. 20, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. Kevin Teh, Benefits Manager
What s included in Open Enrollment? Health, dental and vision insurance Health care FSA Dependent day care FSA Accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance
What s new for 2018? This year, in light of the launch of EpicLeap, we are keeping enrollment simple. Open Enrollment is passive, meaning your benefits from 2017 will automatically roll over to 2018 unless you want to make changes. All your 2017 benefits (except FSA) will automatically roll over, and you will have those same benefits in If you received the $20 tobacco-free credit for 2017, you will automatically receive the credit for If you paid the spouse coverage fee of $100 per month in 2017, you will pay the spouse coverage fee of $100 in Your flexible spending account election will not carry over to That s an IRS rule we can t change. If you want to participate in a FSA for 2018, you will need to enroll on My VUMC Benefits. If you want or need to make changes, you may do so by simply logging into My VUMC Benefits and make those changes.
What s new for 2018? To give you more choice in dental plans, we will offer an additional PPO dental option for 2018: New for 2018 is Delta Dental, a PPO plan similar to BlueCross BlueShield DentalBlue. We will still offer the BCBS DentalBlue PPO plan as well as the Cigna DHMO plan. The Delta Dental plan offers a wider network than BlueCross BlueShield and Cigna. As a Delta Dental subscriber, you will have access to both the Delta Dental PPO and the Delta Dental Premier networks, which include 80 percent of the nation s dental providers. The Delta Dental PPO network gives you lower out-of-pocket costs, while the Delta Dental Premier network gives you access to even more providers. If you currently have BlueCross BlueShield, and your current provider participates in both BCBS and Delta Dental networks, you may want to compare premium rates between the two.
What s new for 2018? VUMC employees will see slight increases in premiums for Aetna Plus and Aetna HealthFund and modestly higher premiums for Aetna Select. The emergency room copay will increase from $115 to $125 for the 2018 plan year. Superior Vision Services rates will increase for all levels of coverage, starting at 25 cents per month for individual coverage and up to 72 cents per month for family coverage.
What s new for 2018? While Vanderbilt pharmacies give us the best pricing using our employee health plan, we know that sometimes you need to use a non-vanderbilt pharmacy such as a retail outlet. Starting in 2018, you can fill prescriptions at Walgreens at lower rates than other non-vanderbilt pharmacies. As our preferred partner, Walgreens offers lower copays and coinsurance rates than other non-preferred pharmacies. o As an example, Tier 1 drugs at a Vanderbilt Pharmacy have a $5 copay while Tier 1 drugs at Walgreens have a $12 copay. By contrast, drugs at a non-preferred pharmacy have a $20 copay. The following prescriptions will continue to be offered exclusively through the Vanderbilt Pharmacy and will not be available at Walgreens: o 90-day prescriptions o mail-order prescriptions o specialty pharmacy prescriptions
What s new for 2018? Long-term disability rates will increase in 2018 due to higher than expected claim volumes the last two years. VUMC will continue to share the cost of this income replacement benefit, and to help you manage the premium increases, we will offer an additional lower-cost option. o You ll still have the current option, which covers the amount between $24,000 and your annual base pay and includes a 10 percent monthly contribution to your retirement account if you become disabled and are a participant in the VUMC Retirement Plan. o For example, an average employee making $50,000 will see an increase in their monthly premium of roughly $2.77 with this option if you don t make a new election. The new, lower-cost option will only cover the amount between $24,000 and your annual base pay and will not include the 10 percent monthly contribution to your retirement account. o For example, an employee making $50,000 will see an increase in their monthly premium of roughly 42 cents if they elect this option.
What s staying the same? VUMC is offering the same health plan options as we did in 2017 We will continue to contribute the same amount to the Aetna HealthFund You can continue saving by committing to being tobacco free
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) Health care FSA reimburses health-related expenses for you and your dependents Contribute up to $2,600 per employee Dependent day care FSA reimburses day care service expenses for your dependents Contribute up to $5,000 per household You must re-enroll every year Use money by March 15, 2019 plan carefully!
Accidental Death & Dismemberment Coverage details and premiums remain the same Review and/or update beneficiaries MetLife provides worldwide medical, travel, concierge, legal and financial assistance services through Travel Assistance.
Life insurance Anytime benefits Enhanced short-term disability Long-term disability insurance Retirement plan contributions and investments Discounted pet, auto and home insurance
