1 68th Annual General Meeting 2016 The Annual General Meeting will be held at the North Melbourne Football Club. Arden St, North Melbourne on Sunday February 19 TH 2017, commencing at am. All financial members and patrons are invited to attend, as elections for Office Bearers for the coming year will take place. A special invitation is extended to all eligible past players and officials who are not financial members of our Association to join us on this occasion. All present day players and officials are especially invited to attend the Annual General Meeting. 2 President s Report In 2015 we announced our intention to establish a hardship fund to assist players and officials in need, and I am pleased to report that this fund has now been created. The football club is supporting this initiative and will work closely with the PPOA to ensure the integrity of the fund. The purpose of this fund is to cover areas that are not currently covered by the various AFL Players Association funds and it is our aim to ensure that every player that has played at least one senior game with North is a member of the AFLPA so they may access the benefits available to AFLPA members. Our intention is that former Reserves / U19 and past officials will have access to the fund and qualification guidelines are being developed. More details will be released during 2017 including ways members may contribute to the scheme financially, or with other resources. We also invite past Reserve grade, Under 19 and officials to join our association. In 2017, we also plan to establish a Resource File to assist members in their business lives after football and details of this program will be released during We congratulate Brent Harvey on his incredible achievement as games record holder and on his outstanding career - we look forward to his continuing association with the club. Recognition is also due to Drew Petrie, Michael Firrito and Nick Dal Santo on their great careers. All have been outstanding representatives of the club during their playing days and we are sure they will continue to contribute to the game in the future. During the year we lost a number of our past players and officials including NMFC Legend Laurie Dwyer - our heartfelt condolences to Mary and family and to all our bereaved families on their loss. 3 Secretary s Report Home games at Etihad Stadium are becoming more popular each year. I would like to encouage more of our Members and their friends to come along and experience catching up with past Players and Officials from all eras. It s a great place to watch the game from inside the room or from a seat outside. Food and drinks are available at bar prices. Tickets are also available to get you into the Stadium and into the Accolade Room. Access is $15 and for $40 you can have a guaranteed seat in a prime veiwing area. You need to be quick and book well in advance to secure your spot. We welcome Phil Carlton and Anthony Stevens to the board; Anthony has some ideas on how we can communicate with members more often and Phil has taken an interest in welfare. 4 Treasurer s Report NMFCPP&OA Treasurer s Report for Year Ended 31/10/2016 In my opinion, the Financial Reports for the Year Ended 31/10/16 reflect the true position of the Association as at this date. The Profit & Loss Statement discloses a net profit of $4502 c.f. a loss in the previous year of $1485. The major variations were Membership Revenue increased from $2730 to $6320, and the net proceeds from the sale of Etihad Seats being $3294 c.f. $487 last year. The Net Assets of the Association have increased to $35,218 c.f. with $30,716 as at 31/10/15. Full details are disclosed in the Financial Reports, but should any member have any queries, please submit them to the AGM & I will be happy to answer them. My thanks again to H G & Co, Certified Practising Accountants of Brighton, who have audited our Financial Reports. Chris Graham, together with his father John, have been most supportive in assisting me & in the completion of this task for our Association. Thank you again to fellow Committee Members & members of our Association for your assistance/contributions during the past year.
