2 First 5 Sacramento Evaluation Summary of Evaluation Activities July 11 September 9, 2015 The following evaluation activities took from July early September: We worked with Carmen to update Persimmony, including content and structural changes. Content changes included entering new milestones and client services for FY We participated in discussions with Carmen and Persimmony staff regarding ways Persimmony could be modified to make it more appropriate for the data First 5 Sacramento s data collection and reporting needs. We also discussed additional changes that may be made to Persimmony in the future, such as linking client services and performance data. Supported the roll out of the new Family Information Form, including: o Family Information Form and consent form were translated into Hmong and Russian. o Specified what grantees should do for non consenting clients. This included creating a procedural document and a shorter version of the FIF to capture a few key pieces of information for non consenters. Began preparing for the First 5 California Annual report, including: o Webinar to learn about reporting requirements o Initial draft of AR 3 and updating numbers o Discussion of how numbers would be calculated for AR 2 We are currently working on exporting the FY data to analyze for the state report. We attended the quarterly contractors meeting in August, and have provided ongoing technical assistance to contractors, including: o Revisions to teleform for Smile Keepers; form is being finalized. o Created reporting form for Sacramento Covered to provide aggregate data on key outcomes o Followed up with library about survey for early literacy workshops o Discussion with WIC about reporting breastfeeding rates

3 Baseline Data from 2013 Birth Statistics Sacramento First 5 Evaluation Committee Meeting September 21, 2015 In July and August, LPC staff worked with First 5 Sacramento staff and home visitation program staff on finalizing the evaluation plan. This included: Developing program data collection forms for use with Persimmony. Assisting in designing data screens for Persimmony. Attending a training for WellSpace program staff about data collection and data entry into Persimmony. Offering to work with WellSpace s home visitation program to streamline paperwork and align them with the requirements of the program. Aligning existing CCHWB forms to current evaluation. Working with Sacramento County to extract the latest birth statistics 2013) to serve as a baseline. Designing one-page summary and data tables of baseline birth statistics. Evaluation next steps: Work with WellSpace home visitation project on streamlining data collection (if offer accepted). Update BMU s database to align with changes to data collection tools. Work with First 5 Sacramento staff to identify or create Persimmony reports to assist with data clean up. Review ISS revised evaluation tools.
