5 Summary 16% of Romanian people didn t take their holiday in 2006, while other 35% had less than 20 days of vacation during the same period of time. Among all professional categories, at one pole we find managers and employers with an average of 15 days of vacation and workers with an average of 16 days of vacation. At the other pole, we find medium and high education employees, with 20 and respectively 21 days of vacation, on average. 50% of Romanian people spent their vacation at home. Other 48% took their holiday by travelling inside the country, while 11% of them travelled abroad. Only 2 out of 3 persons who travelled inside the country and 3 out of 4 persons who travelled abroad paid for the accomodation services. The others visited their relatives or their friends. Although managers and employers had fewer days of vacation (on average), one third of them spend their holidays abroad. Furthermore, managers and employers, along with graduated employees spent less time of their holiday at home. The survey was conducted by Daedalus Consulting on a sample of 1000 persons, aged between 18 and 65 years old. It is an urban nationally representative study. The sampling error is +/-3%.
