ECONOMIC ACTIVITY This section presents the data characterizing the economic activity of years old population during the observation period BASIC CONCEPTS (DEFINITIONS) Economically active population (labour force)- the sum of years old employed and unemployed population in the observation period, who form the labour force supply in the labour market for production of goods and rendering of services. Economically inactive population years old persons, who are not considered employed or unemployed in the observation period. Labour resources - the sum of economically active and inactive population. Economic activity rate (Labour force participation rate) the share of economic active population in the total number of labour resources. Employment rate the share of employed in the number of labour resources. Unemployment rate the share of unemployed in the total number of economically active population MAIN RESULTS OF THE SURVEY ON DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS AND ECONOMIC ACTIVITY OF POPULATION (TABLES ) years old persons comprised 78.8% of the total surveyed population: males % and females %. The indicators for urban and rural settlements were 65.4% and 34.6% correspondingly. Young persons (hereinafter years old) comprised 34.8% of years old population, 49.1% - males and 50.9% - females. In the urban and rural settlements the indicators comprised 64.1% and 35.9% correspondingly. The proportion of employed and unemployed in the composition of economically active population during the observation period comprised 76.8% and 23.2% correspondingly. Males comprised 53.6% and females % of economically active population. In the urban and rural settlements the indicators comprised 61.7% and 38.3% correspondingly. Persons with complete general secondary education (42.2%) and married (67.9%) were prevalent. Young persons comprised 28.5% of total labour force, of which males %, townspeople %. The proportion of employed and unemployed in the composition of young (16-30 years old) labour force comprised 63.3% and 36.7% correspondingly. 12
2 The average republican economic activity rate comprised 58.6%. The highest indicator was recorded among age group (77.5%), persons with vocational education (76.2%) and divorced persons (71.3%). The lowest rate was recoded among years old (24.7%), persons with primary education (31.6%) and widowed persons (38.6%). The economic activity rate of males (69.6%) exceeds the corresponding indicator for females (49.5%) by 20.1% and prevails the average republican indicator by 11 percent point. The economic activity rate of countrypeople (66.6%) exceeds the same indicator of townspeople (54.5%) by 12.1% and average republican by 8 percent point. The economic activity rate of young people during the observation period comprised 47.9% and was lower than average republican indicator by 10.7 percent point. The average republican employment rate comprised 45%. The highest indicator was recorded among age group (63.3%), males (55.1%) and persons with vocational education (62.2%), married (54.4%) and countrypeople (57%). The lowest rate of employment was recoded among years old (19.3%), females (36.7%), persons with primary education (24.4%), singles (29.9%), townspeople (38.9%). The employment rate of young people comprised 30.3% and was lower than average republican indicator by 14.7 percent point. The average republican indicator of unemployment rate comprised 23.2%. The highest indicator was recorded among years old young persons (45.5%), females (26%), persons with general basic education (32.6%) and townspeople (28.7%). The lowest rate of unemployment was recoded among years old (10.9%), males (20.8%), persons with vocational education (18.3%), widowed (16%) and countrypeople (14.5%). The unemployment rate of young people (16-30 years old) during the observation period comprised 36.7% and prevailed the average republican indicator by 13.5 percent point. Summary Analysis of the data on economic activity of population allows making the following conclusions: % economic activity rate was mainly provided by activity of males 69.6% and countrypeople 66.6%. 2. Similarly, 45% employment rate was mainly reached at the expenses of employment of males 55.1% and countrypeople 57%. 3. On the contrary, 23.2% unemployment rate was mainly provided by unemployment of females 26% and townspeople 28.7%. 4. The young people (16-30 years old) keep to stay as a sustain vulnerable group in the labour market with low rate of economic activity 47.9% and employment 30.3% and high rate of unemployment 36.7%. 13
