All workers at the American Legion Post 76 Agricultural Fair are volunteers from the American Legion Post 76, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 76, or family and friends of the veterans of the community. 4 RULES AND REGULATIONS Fair will open 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and close at 10:00 p.m. Fair will open 4 p.m. Friday and will close at 11:00 p.m. Fair will open 9 a.m. Saturday for the animal show, the Midway opens at noon and will close at 11:00 p.m. 1. The Exhibit Halls will open and close with the gate each day. 2. All entries must be received by either; Saturday, September 23rd, :00 am and 5:00pm or Monday September 25th, 2017 Between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. No entries after closing time. 3. Premiums will be paid at the Fair Premium Office on Monday October 2nd, 2017, 9:00 am 7:00 p.m. 4. Any Exhibits removed from the Exhibit Hall before Monday, October 2nd will forfeit any premiums or ribbons won. 5. All premiums not called for at the office by 7:00 pm October 2nd, 2017 will be forfeited. 6. Exhibits may ONLY be removed from Fair Grounds from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on Monday, October 2nd, The Stanly County American Legion Post 76 Agricultural Fair will not be responsible for articles left at the Fair Grounds after October 2nd, Livestock and Poultry may be removed from Fair Grounds on Monday, October 2nd, 2017 starting at 3:00 pm 7:00 pm. 9. All Livestock that are brought for showing purposes only, may be removed after the specific show is complete. 10. Premiums may be withheld for misrepresentation or failure to comply with rules. 11. Exhibitor s business cards, pamphlets, circulars, etc. may be distributed after judging is complete. 12. Entries may be made in person or by proxy. In making entries by proxy it is required to give the name and a description of the articles entered, the name and mailing address of the exhibitor and the department code under which the article is to be entered. Also include name of proxy and phone number. 13. All articles which are products of the soil must be entered in the name of the producer. Those showing handiwork or skill must be entered in the name of the one whose skill they exhibit. All other property must be entered in the name of the actual owner. 14. The management reserves the right to remove from the grounds any exhibit, animal, concessions or objectionable exhibit or entertainment that may be falsely entered or may be deemed unsuitable, or to remove any sign, banner or advertising matter of any kind deemed unsuitable by them, without assigning a reason thereof. 15. The management shall have supervision and control of all exhibits and exhibitions for the fair, whether in the buildings or grounds and reserves the right to prescribe the dimensions and regulate the position of all signs, to control the distribution of advertising matter and generally to direct the articles of exhibition so far as same may be necessary to secure harmony and attractive appearance. All instructions shall come from them or authorized officials. 16. The management reserves the right to reject any entries offered. No article or animal will be entitled to space until proper entry has been made. 17. These rules and regulations apply to each and every department of the fair. 18. Exhibitors and concessionaires are required to familiarize themselves with all the rules. 19. The management reserves the right to amend or add to these rules as they may deem fit. In the event of conflict of general and special rules, the latter will govern. 3

5 Special Rules 1. The same type of article or animal cannot compete for more than one premium in any department. 2. All entries must be new entries unless provided for. 3. Where there is only one entry in a class, it will be judged according to its merits, i.e., first, second, third. 4. To further promote participation and quality of entries in your fair, the management is offering a cash reward of $25.00 in the Senior Division for participants receiving the largest number of blue ribbons, excluding livestock entries. 5. Also a $25.00 cash award in the Junior Division for participants receiving the largest number of blue ribbons in the Junior Division only, excluding livestock entries. 6. Junior Division entries may be made by boys and girls up to 18 years of age. Entries 1. Entries will be taken on Saturday, Sept 23rd, 2017 from 9am 5pm and Monday, Sept. 25th, 2017 from 8:00 am 5:00 pm. 2. No exhibitor will be permitted to exhibit more than one article having the same premium number. 3. The premiums are designated by ribbons blue meaning first, red second, and white third premium. These ribbons will be attached only by the director of each department after judges have made their awards and the same have been approved by the director. Premiums are paid only in accordance with official award books, (and not from ribbons that may be attached to exhibits) and are payable on Monday after the fair. Ribbons are sometimes misplaced. 4. First, second and third premiums will be offered. When three or more entries are made in a class, first money will be paid first winner, second money second, third money third winner. When only one or two entries are made, the awarding of premiums will be left to the discretion of the judges. 5. The committee especially calls attention to the fact that exhibits from other counties are invited. Exhibition of Articles not listed 1. The exhibition of articles not enumerated in the regular schedule of premiums is invited and they will be placed in the proper departments and displayed to visitors. The judges will note these meritorious, but no other award other then honorable mention will be made. Liability of Exhibitors 2. The property of every character for competition, display or for other purpose of being anywhere in the Fair Grounds shall be subject to the control of the management. 3. In no case shall the American Legion Post 76 Agricultural Fair Committee or management be held responsible for any loss, damage or injury or death by disease, of any character, to any such property while same is on the fair grounds, or at any other time or place. Directors and Judges 1. Premiums will not be paid exhibitors when it is proved that they accompanied the judges when awarding the ribbons. The awards when completed shall be signed by the judge, who will take charge of the book and return it to the manager. As the awards are made, the director will attach the ribbon indicating the award. 2. Decisions of the judges shall be final and no appeal shall be considered except in case of protest in writing, with strong evidence of fraud or violation of the rules. 3. Directors and judges must not permit consolidation or change of exhibits. 4. If an entry is not judged to be good quality no premium will be awarded even if it is the sole entry in its category. All foods must be made by person entering and must have been made since last fair. Any canned fruit or vegetable that resembles a commercial product may be opened for testing. All entries must be standard canning jars, standard quart, pint or half pint canning jars. Exhibits will be ruled out when not in standard canning jars of the specified size. All animals will be required to have a health certificate issued within 30 days of the opening of the fair. The livestock superi will assign all stalls for animals. Exhibitors of livestock will furnish their own feed, and care for their animals. Barn passes will be issued to exhibitors along with one additional pass for a parent. Owners are responsible for the care of their animals and are responsible in keeping their area clean. Enter early as space is limited and may fill before registration deadline. All Sheep and goats regardless of age will be required to have a scrapie identification tag. Age is Based on 4-H Rules.
