1 TERMS AND CONDITIONS CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS: All cancellations must be received by our BALTIMORE OFFICE IN WRITING ONLY. Date of RECEIPT of said cancellation by AESU will determine what penalties are assessed. Cancellation penalties are as follows: Prior to March 14, 2003 $ March 15-April 14, % of total trip cost April 15-May 14, % May 15-June 1, % After June 1, 2003, no refunds can be made - 100%. No show also means no refund. Processing of cancellation refunds takes approximately 6-8 weeks. AIRFARES are highly restrictive, NON-REFUNDABLE, NON-ENDORSABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. Once reservation is booked and paid for, AESU reserves the right to issue tickets. Once ticketed, there is no refund on airfare portion. Cancellation of airfare reservations, in conjunction with land program cancellation, are subject to restrictions, regulations and additional penalties of the airlines used. NO cancellations can be processed unless total AIRLINE TICKET is returned to AESU for processing. Reservation changes also subject to penalties. In the event service and accommodations set forth in the program cannot be supplied due to delays, acts, omissions, or other causes beyond its control, the operator shall use its best efforts to supply comparable services/accommodations. In the event services are not used due to voluntary omission by the participant, refunds will not be granted. No refund or allowance will be made for absence during the tour, or for activities missed, even if for cause beyond the control of the participant including illness or personal emergency. Unused vouchers for tours, hotels or other features are not exchangeable or refundable. We strongly advise that you take out CANCELLATION INSURANCE which grants FULL REFUNDS if you cancel or are forced to interrupt your trip due to illness. Medical health and accident insurance is compulsory. You may supply your own or purchase AESU s insurance. AESU GROUP TRAVEL INSURANCE: AESU group rates represent substantial savings over individual policies. We believe so strongly in this coverage that it is automatically included on the initial invoice. Should you decline coverage, please advise us when submitting your trip payment. Paid insurance premiums are non-refundable. INSURANCE COVERAGE CANNOT BE PAID FOR AFTER YOUR FINAL PAYMENT HAS BEEN SUBMITTED. (If booking within 30 days, premium payment is due with initial booking.) When AESU does your airline ticketing, you are automatically covered under the trip cancellation/interruption section if premium paid. IMPORTANT NOTE: Group Insurance coverage is only applicable to USA Citizens and Permanent Residents and Canadian Citizens. Premium payments will be refunded to citizens of other countries. RESPONSIBILITY AND LIABILITY: The responsibility of AESU and the Sponsoring Association is limited. They act only in the capacity of agents for the passenger in all matters pertaining to accommodations, sightseeing tours, and transportation whether by railroad, motorbus, motorcar, steamship or plane, and as such they shall not be liable for any personal injury, death, damage, loss, accident, delay, or irregularity which may be occasioned either by reason of any defect in any vehicle, or through the acts or default of any company or person engaged in conveying the passenger, or in carrying out the arrangements of the tour or otherwise in connection therewith. By embarking upon his/her travel, the traveler voluntarily assumes all risk involved in such travel, whether expected or unexpected. Under no circumstances is AESU to be held responsible for: a.) Baggage damage, loss, or delay in delivery. b.) Delays, personal injury, property damage or any loss resulting from any acts of God, act of public enemy, arrest or restraint of any government, seizure under legal process, quarantine, restrictions, riots, or civil commotions, strikes, lockouts, or labor stoppages, war hazards or dangers incident to a state of war, participation in sports activities. c.) Improper or insufficient passports or other documents. d.) Illness, death, accidents, or injury. e.) Loss of personal property, possessions, or monies. f.) Any act of neglect of any person or company whose services are retained by AESU for the benefit of tour participants including, but not limited to, hotels, tour agencies, transportation companies and tour guides. g.) Any deviation, delay, or curtailment of any kind, however caused, and if beyond the control of AESU. Additional expenses, if incurred under any of these circumstances, will be borne by the tour participant. Any participant responsible for damage to any property while on the tour will be required to pay immediately for such damages incurred. In the event of cancellation due to insufficient number of participants, AESU s liability shall be limited to a FULL REFUND of all payments received from applicants. The sole responsibility of any airline used in any tour is limited to that set out in the passenger contract evidenced by the ticket. Airlines and other carriers are not responsible for any act, omission or event during the time passengers are not on board their planes or conveyances. Similar responsibility as noted above applies to all types of carriers. The liability of the direct air carrier for loss or damage to baggage is limited to the actual value of such baggage, but not more than $9.07 per pound in the case of checked baggage and $400 per passenger in the case of unchecked baggage for international journey, and in the case of domestic journeys, actual value not to exceed $500. Special rules may apply for valuable articles. All services are subject to the laws of the country in which these services are rendered.

5 Day-by-Day Itinerary TUESDAY, JUNE 10 Depart today for an overnight flight to Germany - the first part of your Munich homecoming! WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11 Wilkommen in München - again! Use your Munich TravelCard to jump on the airport train which departs every 20 minutes for the Hauptbahnhof. Or take a taxi directly to your downtown hotel. Once you ve settled in, enjoy a leisurely walk along streets you used to call your own, and arrive at the new JYM institute to pick up your registration materials and Information Package. Check the Who s Where? board to find classmates from your JYM year, and get ready for a flood of memories! THURSDAY, JUNE 12 The festivities begin in the morning with a formal, grand opening ceremony and reception at the Ludwig Maximilian University to celebrate 50 years of JYM. Surrounded by the academic aura of history and tradition, you will be welcomed back to Munich by university and government dignitaries from both Germany and the US. Special recognition will be given to the German- American Cultural Center (Detroit) and to Dr. Marianne Riegler (Munich), whose long association with the JYM contributed greatly to the unique and distinguished reputation of the Program. Take advantage of the afternoon to stroll down the Leopoldstrasse towards Schwabing, or walk along the Kaiser Joseph Strasse towards the Marienplatz and beyond. Or you may just want to return to your hotel for a bit of rest before an informal jovial evening of gemütliches Beisammensein. We ve arranged for JYM alumni to revisit the sights, sounds, and flavors of student life in Munich under a festival tent at the Studentenstadt. Relax with your former classmates as today s students gradually join you for the grand keg tapping which marks the official opening of the StuStaCulum - the largest student theater and music event in Germany! FRIDAY JUNE 13 Carpe Diem! Seize the day to visit familiar places such as the English Garden with its Chinese Tower and Seehaus Biergarten. Your Information Package will give you suggestions, including walking tours and insider tips. Or use your Munich TravelCard to see what has changed since you were last in Munich. But save lots of energy for the extravagant JYM Alumni Reunion Bavarian Dinner and evening festivities we ve planned for you tonight at the Löwenbräukeller restaurant!
