1 BARTON MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY INTRODUCTION Welcome to Barton Mutual, a Missouri mutual established in The Mutual concept, founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1752, enables individuals with similar loss exposure to band together to protect their financial assets. That same concept still works today. Hundreds of mutuals are scattered across the country, providing various coverages for the needs of their members. Management of Barton answers to policyholders via the Board of Directors. The board consists of seven elected policyholders. They set policy for the direction of your mutual. Directors' tenure tends to be long, by design. We rely on the stability and continuity of the board, as well as each director s knowledge of the industry. In June 1971, the company changed its name to Barton County Mutual Insurance Company and expanded the charter to write state-wide. Barton County Mutual assumed management of Cape Mutual Insurance in Cape Girardeau in 1982, and Owensville Mutual Insurance in Owensville was added in 1986 to form the Barton Mutual Group. Both companies were moved to Liberal in 1997 and 1999 respectively. In 2001, the company changed its name from Barton County Mutual Insurance Company to Barton Mutual Insurance Company and Owensville Mutual was renamed Gateway Mutual Insurance. The three companies were merged into one under the name Barton Mutual Insurance Company as of January 1, As a result of our affiliation with Missouri Farm Bureau, our policyholders will enjoy the option of having all the benefits associated with a Missouri Farm Bureau membership. OUR MISSION Our mission is to serve our policyholders and our agents as we provide quality insurance coverage in the state of Missouri. We intend to treat each person who interacts with our company in a way that makes him or her feel valued and respected. We will first and foremost seek the guidance of the Creator in the management of this company. A PARTNERSHIP We look forward to a rewarding relationship with your agency. Since you are our customer by representing your policyholders, we hold your needs as top priority. We invite your total interest in the development of Barton. Remember, the policyholder owns the company. As his representative, Barton's welfare is your welfare. We focus on strong service to you and your clients, as evidenced by our Field Managers. We know of no other personal lines carrier writing statewide that deploys as strong a field presence. BMIC (09-15) 1 INTRODUCTION

2 PHILOSOPHY Our basic underwriting skills, underwriting the person, remain sharpened. We demand good underwriting skills from our agents as well. You will find a smoother, shorter learning curve if you take time to review and become familiar with our sales manual. Be sure to schedule an underwriting training seminar with our Underwriting department to help you gain a comfort level with our products. Our underwriters are ready to assist you when you need it via phone or . The manual instruction, training, and personal underwriting help are all encapsulated in the philosophy that you are our customer, and service is our top priority. At Barton Mutual, you will find our existence is solely to serve our fellow man. You will find that feeling from our receptionist to our field manager, on through your underwriters, president and to the board. Our mission and our goals may be on a piece of paper, but our guidance is sought from our God. CLAIMS HANDLING Barton pays its claims promptly and fairly. We utilize our experienced adjusting staff on most claims, while relying on our relationships with established independent adjusting firms as needed. You will find we concentrate on fire causes. We do so for these primary reasons: 1. Arson is a major factor and must be confronted. 2. Our inspection program benefits from the feedback of causes of fire. 3. Proper and stable rate levels are more attainable. We make all attempts to maintain the integrity of the insurance contract. We will fight fraud and baseless claims. Please take the time to educate the consumer of the details of their policy. It is important that the policyholders understand what is and is not covered in case of a loss. If you ever question a coverage, please take a moment to call or our knowledgeable claims staff to get an answer. TYPES OF POLICIES Below are the various policy programs available. All policies are AAIS-based. AAIS forms are very similar to ISO. HOMEOWNER PREFERRED FORM 5 Contents: Special Form, replacement cost Minimum dwelling value: $120,000 No dwellings built before 1965, no class 10, Fireplace or insert only; no other wood heating system allowed (outside units heating water for dwelling heat are acceptable) BMIC (01-17) 2 INTRODUCTION

3 HOMEOWNER FORM 3 Minimum dwelling value: $80,000 No dwellings built before 1965 RENTER FORM 4 (HO4) HOMEOWNER FORM 8 Dwelling: Modified Special Form, replacement cost using common materials Minimum dwelling value: $50,000 Renovated dwellings built before 1965 (full wiring updates required), written at market value HOMEOWNER CLASSIC Dwelling: Modified Special Form, replacement cost using common materials Minimum dwelling value: $80,000 Renovated dwellings built before 1965 (full wiring updates required), written at replacement value CONDO OWNER OCCUPIED Minimum contents value: $30,000 Minimum dwelling value: $4,500 FARMOWNER PREFERRED FORM 6 Contents: Special Form, replacement cost Minimum dwelling value: $120,000 No dwellings built before 1965, no class 10 Fireplace or insert only; no other wood heating system allowed (outside units heating water for dwelling heat are acceptable) FARMOWNER FORM 1 Minimum dwelling value: $30,000 BMIC (01-17) 3 INTRODUCTION
