4 Disaster is often the catalyst for change to bring learning and awareness across the industry. The 2017 Grenfell Tower fire in London, and the 2014 Lacrosse Tower fire in Melbourne are examples of that. It has sprung government bodies and associations to work on specific measures to address the fire safety risks associated with external wall cladding in buildings. In NSW, the government has introduced new laws relating to buildings with combustible cladding. The latest of these, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Amendment (Identification of Buildings with Combustible Cladding) Regulation 2018 will commence on 22 October 2018.The Regulation now makes provision for the identification of, and collection of information about, buildings to which combustible cladding has been applied. The Draft is driven by the term combustible cladding, and that is a sum reflection of what is driving the changes in this landscape. Corpolinx, therefore, is hosting the 2 nd Edition Fire Safety and Cladding Summit, scheduled for November The event has been designed to bring together fire and construction industry mainly focus in fire safety practice, engineering and risk management involved in cladding by exclusive networking sessions, professional and interactive panel discussions as well as topical case studies addressing the challenges faced and to assess solutions and services in this space to help achieve business outcomes.
