3 Health Programme Funds actions aiming to promote and support a European cooperation in some of the most challenging health related issued such as : chronic diseases, anti-microbial resistance and health technologies assessment. In support to DG SANTE and DG GROW policies Promotion of Agricultural Products Implements actions to increase awareness of EU agricultural products merit and quality schemes, as well as their competitiveness and market share worldwide. In support to DG AGRI policy Better Training for Safer Food Well-known for promoting European food safety standards in the EU and worldwide, through hundreds of trainings organised each year for professional actors. In support to DG SANTE, DG DEVCO policies Consumer Programme Fund actions targeting safer products and market surveillance, assistance to consumers on cross-border issues, education and information initiatives, and providing data policy related. In support to DG JUST policies Chafea activities are based on annual workplans defined by the relevant Directorate Generals. Since 2005 Chafea has dealt with over beneficiaries and contractors and carried out more than 400 projects and service contracts. Over 60 experts and administrative agents work together for the benefit of the European citizen s health and food safety.

7 The implementation Annual Work Programmes The Commission implements the Programme by establishing annual work programmes on the basis of which calls for proposals and call for tenders are organised every year. Programme Committee Members The Commission is assisted by a committee for establishing the annual Work Plans and monitor the Programme implementation. National Focal Points Member states designate National Focal Points for the promotion of the Programme and the dissemination of the Programme results and the identification of impacts generated The contact details of NFP could be found on the CHAFEA website Health and Food (CHAFEA) The Agency is entrusted by the Commission to manage the Health Programme and it works closely with us.

33 Financial contribution to the functioning of non-governmental bodies (operating grants) Call for proposals will be organised for the conclusion of fouryear framework partnership agreements (FPA) covering years In particular, but not limited to, the following priority areas: Prevention and health determinants, chronic diseases, cancer, dementia, rare diseases, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, access to healthcare, and substances of human origin.

Previously: several participating entities from each Member State/ participating country. From 2017: Limited to one participating entity per JA/ per Member State or participating country. 37 How much co-funding? EU contribution is 60 % of the total eligible cost; In cases of exceptional utility, it is 80 %. The co-funding rate applies both to the consortium and individual beneficiary levels Who can participate? Country eligibility EU28 and EEA (Norway and Iceland) Serbia and Moldova Focus: MS competent authorities Health And Food
38 Exceptional utility criteria 1. At least 30 % of the budget of the proposed action is allocated to MS whose gross national income (GNI) per inhabitant is less than 90 % of the Union average. This criterion intends to promote the participation from MS with a low GNI. 2. Bodies from at least 14 participating countries participate in the action, out of which at least four are countries whose GNI per inhabitant is less than 90 % of the Union average. This criterion promotes wide geographical coverage and the participation of MS authorities from countries with a low GNI. Health And Food
