One year if students complete two modules in each semester. There is three semesters in an academic year. 1 NFQ: National Framework of Qualifications 2 ECTS stands for European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). 1 ECTS = 20/25 total student effort hours Page 1

2 Professional Diploma in Retail Banking Credit & Service Programme learning outcomes: On completing the Professional Diploma in Retail Banking Credit and Service, it is expected that graduates will be able to: Explain the theory and practice underpinning bank retail product and service design and delivery and show how it relates to regulatory compliance and risk management Describe the key features of retail bank credit and deposit products and services along with the factors which influence their design, management, delivery and evaluation Outline the key funding sources available to SMEs, noting regulatory and legal requirements Assess financial information contained within financial accounts in order to ascertain the credit risk of a customer and support the selection of appropriate products and services to meet the customer need Appraise regulatory issues for appropriate product and / or service solutions to meet customers needs, indicating to customers the features, benefits and risks of bank retail products and services Identify situations / contexts where potential regulatory breaches can occur and devise strategies to mitigate conduct risk Manage and negotiate with borrowers Identify the early signs of credit deterioration for personal and SME customers, evaluate their potential impact and consider courses of action Communicate clearly (using appropriate media) with customers demonstrating a customer-centric focus Present a lending proposal in a manner which meets the needs of the personal or SME borrower and complies with credit policies Compile documentation to advise key stakeholders on bank practice and customer service developments 1 NFQ: National Framework of Qualifications 2 ECTS stands for European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). 1 ECTS = 20/25 total student effort hours Page 2

Written paper exam 100%, duration 2 hours Manual, study guide, webinars and a one day workshop Susan Freeney Susan.freeney@iob.ie Indicative Learning Outcomes: Monitor and identify early warning signs of financial distress Control and manage existing personal and SME credit facilities, in particular accounts in arrears Assess problem debt and suggest the appropriate resolution options including, liquidation, receivership and administration Assess the viability of the personal or SME customer proposition in a compromised credit situation and where appropriate restructure the facility to meet the needs of the customer while protecting the bank Make a judgement on when to disengage and exit and outline the recovery options and provision requirements for impairment Page 5
