2 Frequently asked questions For any other questions, please call , visit your nearest Absa branch or go to absa.co.za How do transaction fees work? In short, you pay either a fixed fee or a sliding scale fee, which is sometimes called ad valorem. Fixed fee: When you perform account payments at an Absa ATM, you ll pay a fixed fee per transaction, whether you pay R100,00 or R Sliding scale fee: You pay a base fee for the transaction itself plus a fee based on the value of the transaction. For example, if you withdraw R500,00 from a current account at an Absa ATM, you ll pay a R3,95 base fee for the transaction plus R1,35 per R100,00. Therefore the withdrawal will cost R10,70 (R3, x R1,35). What pricing options are there? To get the most out of your banking, choose the product and pricing option that best suit your needs and your pocket and don t forget to relook your options as your needs change. Remember: Doing transactions in a bank that can be done at an ATM or using Online, Mobile or Telephone Banking is more expensive. 1. Pay-as-you-transact This is the standard fee pricing option, where you are charged a standard fee for every transaction you make. 2. Value Bundle You pay an affordable, fixed fee from as little as a month for a set number of transactions and various valueadded services. On the Gold and Platinum Value Bundle, unused transactions roll over to the next month. 3. Prepaid Debit Card With this pricing option, an upfront fee is charged for all credits to the account. No fees are charged for transactions performed using Absa s infrastructure. 4. Rebate Banking You will receive a rebate on the banking fees for certain transactions if you keep a set minimum balance in your transactional, savings or investment account throughout the month. (The amount required differs from account to account.) Where can I find out about the pricing applicable to my account? The pricing on your and all other Absa accounts can be found on the website (absa.co.za). You can also call the Absa Price Line on and we ll be able to explain specific fees and the various pricing options available to you. How do debit orders make my life easier? A debit order is an instruction from you that allows third-party service providers and banks to collect money automatically from your bank account. Customers who choose to use debit orders should always make sure that there is enough money in their account to cover the amount of the debit order. What does tracking a debit order mean? If a debit order is processed and there are insufficient funds available in your account, the third party can try to debit your account again when funds become available. This is commonly referred to as tracking. How can I track my debit orders? To be safe, check that your debit orders have all been processed correctly. If you notice any discrepancy, you can dispute the debit order and claim back the amount taken from your account. You can also register for NotifyMe and receive an SMS notification every time there is a transaction on your account. How can I dispute a debit order? You can dispute a debit order by visiting a branch or going online. If you dispute a debit order within 40 days of the debit order being debited from your account, the amount will be credited to your account immediately. How can I cancel a debit order? You can only cancel a debit order by contacting the service provider directly and instructing them to do so. If the third party continues to collect the debit order from your account after you have cancelled it, you can dispute the debit order or, alternatively, provide Absa with a written stop payment instruction. How can I avoid rejected debit order fees? Arrange for your debit orders to be paid about two days after your salary/wage is deposited into your account. This will ensure you have enough money in your account. Remember, you have the right to choose the date that suits you. What is an electronic funds transfer? It is the transfer of money between accounts linked to your portfolio, for example, transferring money between your current account and savings account. Page 2 Pricing Guide

3 What is a beneficiary payment? It is a transaction used to pay a utility bill (municipal account) or beneficiary whose account is not linked to your portfolio of accounts (i.e. you would pay school fees, an electricity bill or rent using a beneficiary payment transaction). What is an immediate payment? By using our electronic channels you can pay single credit payments in real time to beneficiaries 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Note: There is a fee payable to make a payment immediate. What is a cardless cash deposit? You can deposit cash at any of our cash-accepting ATMs without using an ATM card. Note: Additional fees will apply. Why should I get estatements? estatements are free, you get them regularly and they are easy to file, save and print. How can I change to estatements? Simply logon to Absa Online (absa.co.za), click on the Profile menu bar and then on Manage estatements. You can also make the change on Telephone Banking or by sending your request to official @absa.co.za What is a Saswitch ATM? Absa does not own Saswitch ATMs, so when you use them, you ll be charged additional fees. If possible, always use an Absa ATM. What is a Barclays ATM transaction? It is a transaction performed at a Barclays ATM, anywhere in the world. Transaction fees for international Barclays ATMs are aligned to those of local Absa ATMs. What is the Global Alliance ATM? The Global Alliance ATM is a joint venture of several major international banks that allows their customers to use their ATM card or debit card at another bank within the Global Alliance ATM at no or reduced fees. As Absa is a Global Alliance partner you can use your debit card to withdraw cash from any of our Global Alliance partners ATMs at reduced rates across the world. Click here for the list of our Alliance partners. absa.co.za/personal/bank/international-banking/foreignatms/ What is a debit card? This card lets you pay for goods or services at retailers where you see the MasterCard or Visa signs. The money is taken off your account immediately. What is an Absa-supported ATM? These ATMs are supported by Absa and are dual-branded, i.e. Absa/Cash Express. Withdrawals made from these ATMs attract higher charges than if you had used an Absa ATM, but lower than those if you had used a Saswitch machine. Disclaimer: Fees quoted in this brochure are valid from 1 January Unless otherwise stated, fees include 14% VAT and are subject to change. Should there be evidence that an individual product or service is used for business purposes, or used in any way that is not allowed by the product terms or conditions, this may result in customers having to pay additional fees, or even the termination of the product or service. In this event Absa Bank is entitled to change the pricing option (for such products and services) by notice, to a pricing option that is the same and similar to business customers.
