2 BRIEF NOTE ON FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT (FDI) FROM U.K. An analysis of the foreign direct investment (FDI) equity, received in India, since 2000, shows that the FDI have risen substantially. 2. CUMULATIVE FDI EQUITY INFLOWS received during January December 2010 were Rs. 568, crores (US$ billion). Out of this, FDI from U.K. (which ranks 4 th ) are Rs. 28, crores (i.e. US$ 6.37 billion), which represents 5.02% of the cumulative received (this amount does not include received prior to January 2000, as such data prior to that date was not centrally maintained by the ). Further, project, country & sector specific FDI equity data, in respect of U.K., is available only from January 2000 onwards. 3. The amount of FDI equity, in respect of country/sector specific data was not provided by, Mumbai, prior to January SECTOR-WISE DISTRIBUTION OF FDI INFLOWS: On perusal of the sector-wise distribution of FDI equity received from U.K., from to , it is seen that the highest FDI equity have been in the Services sector, which accounts for over 41% of FDI from U.K. Ports, with over 11%, is in the second place and Petroleum & natural gas, with about 6%, is in the third place. 2
