1 MEMBER REGULATION notice W. D Silva: wdsilva@ida.ca MR0254 November 26, 2003 ATTENTION: Ultimate Designated Persons Chief Financial Officers Panel Auditors Distribute internally to: Corporate Finance Credit Institutional Internal Audit Legal & Compliance Operations Registration Regulatory Accounting Research Retail Senior Management Trading desk Training IDA Approval Categories and s A detailed Guide to IDA Categories is now available on the Registration Guide Section of the IDA s web site as a reference for members. ( The Registration renewal fees collected by the IDA on December 31, 2003 in the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia will be based on the IDA approval categories recorded on NRD for each individual. To ensure that your firm is not unnecessarily charged a duplicate fee for one individual, please ensure that individuals currently approved with your firm have the appropriate combination of categories where applicable. For example, to register an individual to trade options, it is not necessary to select both Registered Representative (Retail) and Registered. The correct selection is Registered Please also ensure that combined categories are selected where available for any subsequent submissions. The tables on the following page set out those categories for which annual fees are collected. Combinations of registration categories are available to eliminate duplication of fees. When selecting an Approval category, please ensure the categories selected do not incur duplicate annual fees. Members are also encouraged to use the category combinations, to avoid incurring duplicate application fees. For example, to request registration as an RR for both options (Registered Options (Retail)) and futures (Registered Futures Contract Representative Options)), please select the combination of categories: Registered Representative (Retail) and Registered Futures Contract, rather than selecting both categories individually.
