4 2017 faculty strike service purchase Employers to provide service purchases for retirements and terminations up to June 30, 2018 Employer PA will provide list of members who have purchased strike service by January 26, 2018 Service purchases should use new earnings effective October 1, 2017 for any purchases processed on or after January 10 4
5 2017 faculty strike retroactive payments Retroactive payments for earnings increases effective October 1, 2017 are pensionable Lump sum payments of $900 for full-time and $450 for part-time are NOT PENSIONABLE For members who retired and are eligible for the retroactive payments, deduct contributions from their retroactive payment and CAAT will adjust their pension amount As per normal process, retroactive payments will be reported on the 2018 DCT and retroactive earnings will be allocated to 2017 If a member retires, terminates or dies in 2018, we will need to have the retroactive payment reported using the Allocation of Retroactive Pay to Prior Years form 5
6 Employer questions on Bill 148 Public Holiday Pay Employers should continue with their current practice in the treatment of earnings and service for pension purposes. For example: Appendix D and partial load employees. For all other OTRFT employees that are now eligible for public holiday pay as of January 1, 2018, the pay is pensionable for earnings only with no pensionable service attributed Pay will be included in pensionable earnings for the applicable pay period 6
7 Employer questions on Bill 148 Extended Pregnancy/Parental Leave - Continue to be handled the same way for pension purposes - Will have the option to purchase the extended period as a lump sum when top up ends - Member can purchase extended leave within 6 months with employer match - CAAT to review current forms 7
8 Employer questions on Bill 148 Vacation Pay for OTRFT members - As per Schedule 3 all forms of vacation pay are included in contributory earnings for OTRFT members - Pay in lieu and vacation pay that is part of hourly rate - Not pensionable if paid as a one-time lump sum unless it is vacation paid in year that member terminates or retires where member has option to have this a pensionable earnings 8

10 Employer Attestation Attestations were sent to all employers on January 15, have been completed and returned as of January 22 Signed attestations are to be returned by March 30, 2018 Contact Angela Goodchild with any questions 10
11 Employer Attestation Employer Training We received feedback from employers on attendance requirements for Employer Education webinars If employers have attended a webinar within the last 2 years that covers the same material of a webinar the plan is presenting this year they would not be required to attend Employer can show the attendance as Not Required on the attendance report. 11
