23 Select your funds 1. Indicate how you wish to allocate your contributions and your employer s contributions (if applicable) by assigning a percentage to the investment options you have selected. You can click each fund name to learn more about your investment options. You must complete this step for each plan you want to enrol in. 2. Click Save and Continue. Review and submit If you wish to make changes, select one of the tabs under Enrol (Enrolment guide, Plan Selection, Plan Terms, Payroll Deduction, Fund Allocation). If you select one of the tabs, you will have to click Save and Continue again, even if you do not make any changes. Your enrolment is not complete and information is not saved if you exit before you click Submit under the tab Review & Submit. Once you click Submit, you will not be able to go back. 1. Click [enrolment summary] to review your information and then print a copy for your files. 2. Click Submit. Designate your beneficiary Finally, designate a beneficiary to ensure the assets in your account are distributed according to your wishes in the event of your death. If you do not designate a beneficiary, the assets in your account will be paid out according to legislative requirements. 1. Click Add/Edit Beneficiary and follow the on-screen instructions (see more details on page 29). Under a defined contribution pension plan, if you have a spouse when you die, the law stipulates that the death benefit be paid to your surviving spouse unless, where provided, the spouse waives the death benefit. This would allow you to appoint another beneficiary. Where Quebec law applies, a legal (married or civil union) spouse beneficiary is irrevocable unless you indicate otherwise. 23

24 How to use the Asset allocation tool It s important to find the asset mix that s right for your investment style and risk tolerance. The Asset allocation tool helps you make the right investment choices for you. Think of it as a quiz that matches your personality with your money (also called the Investment risk profiler). By answering nine questions, this tool will provide you with your risk profile and the asset mix that matches your personal tolerance for risk. How to use the tool: 1. Sign in to mysunlife.ca/snclavalin. From the Home page, under the Investments section, click on my financial centre from the right-hand menu. 2. Under the Resource Centre drop-down menu, select my money tools. 3. Ensure the Asset allocation tab is highlighted and then click Continue to enter the tool. 4. Enter some preliminary information such as the age at which you plan to retire and choose a plan to work with, then click Continue. 5. Review and respond to each question. 6. Based on your responses, the tool determines your target investment mix and presents detailed information about investment choices that align with your target investment mix. You can move from plan to plan or have the results apply to all of your plans. The tool provides you with an action plan and links to other tools and areas of the site to explore. 24 SNC-Lavalin Employee Benefits Program - User guide

25 Need help making your investment decisions? Within your retirement and savings program, you have a variety of investments to choose from, with two distinct investment approaches: built FOR me (SNCL Target Portfolios) and built BY me. Learn about investment approaches Learn more about those investment approaches by watching the videos available under my learning centre from the Resource Centre drop-down menu. Investment advice is a phone call away Through the my investment advice program, a licensed Investment Advice Specialist can help you understand the investment options available in your retirement and savings program, which ones are best for you, and how you can use them to build a diversified portfolio. Call (8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET, any business day) and ask to speak to an Investment Advice Specialist. Ideally, you would have used the Asset allocation tool prior to making the call (see how on page 24). With one call, Sun Life Financial s licensed representatives can: Help you determine how comfortable you are with investment risk Review your plan s investment options Provide advice on which funds are most appropriate for you Complete any transactions over the phone, with your consent How to access investment information Through my financial centre, you have direct and integrated access to Morningstar Canada s investment information service. Morningstar is an independent investment researcher who provides real-time data and commentary about investments. Integration with mysunlife.ca/snclavalin means that you can focus on relevant information for the investments under your plan(s). 1. Sign in to mysunlife.ca/snclavalin. From the Home page, under the Investments section, click on my financial centre from the right-hand menu. 2. Under the Accounts drop-down menu, select Investment performance. 3. From there, you can select one of six tabs to access in-depth fund analysis tools. 25

26 Rates of Return and Unit Values: See the performance of funds available in your plan. Fund Report: Access tools and information about your funds. Market Indices: This section includes indices to help you better understand key drivers in the marketplace. Fund Quickrank tool: This tool allows you to search and compare funds side-by-side. You can research, analyze and compare the funds offered in your plan using different criteria. Instant X-Ray: This tool provides you with more detailed information including a portfolio overview and various portfolio performance metrics of your investments. Updates: This is a custom Sun Life Financial tool that allows Sun Life Financial to publish relevant fund manager updates and fund updates for you. How to update your investment selections You can update the investment selections for each of your plans through the Change investments feature. Changes can be made for accumulated assets and future contributions. Accumulated assets and future contributions may be handled as separate transactions indicated by the Move my money to different funds and Change how my future contributions will be invested options within this tool. We recommend you use your target investment mix results from the Asset allocation tool to help you select the percentage to allocate in each of the assets categories (see page 24). 1. Sign in to mysunlife.ca/snclavalin. From the Home page, under the Investments section, click on my financial centre from the right-hand section. 2. Under the Requests drop-down menu, select Change investments. 3. Use the tabs across the top to move from plan to plan. At the end of the process, you can replicate your changes to all of the plans. If you want to make a change for accumulated assets, check Move my money to different funds If you want to make a change for your future contributions only, check Change how my future contributions will be invested If you want to make a change for both accumulated assets and future contributions, check the first box Both move Make the actual changes. All of the investment selections appear in a chart and are listed by fund name and grouped by asset category. You will see the different funds available in the plan, your current investment mix, and the new one you wish to apply. You need to allocate 100% of your assets and/or future contributions to the different investment funds available. As you continue working through the tool, you have the possibility to review all of your selections prior to completing the transaction. 5. When you Submit the changes, you will receive a final confirmation for your records. 26 SNC-Lavalin Employee Benefits Program - User guide
