1 Executive report Finland Day, 28 th November 29. The Finland Day, being the first joint action of the Hungarian EURES and the Embassy of Finland, was organised in the Museum of Applied Arts, Budapest 28. November 29. The event was a blend of the Hungarian EURES s types of event (e.g. International Job Fairs, national EURES Road Show) where the jobseekers could meet both the employers from Finland (or Hungarian ones with Finnish connections), as well as organisations introducing the country s social security, living and working conditions. As an addition the presentations of the employers and organisations cultural and scientific elements were also presented for the sake to provide the whole picture e.g. travelogues about Finland, presentations about the history of Finland and the two countries as language relatives. During the whole day contests (quizzes, tongue-twisters, blank maps, recognition of Finnish folk-articles for personal use) and showing of short films about Finland were introduced to facilitate gaining useful information about the destination country. The Finland Day was opened by Jari Vilén, Ambassador of Finland after the welcoming words of László Herczog, Minister of Social and Employment Affairs. In order to provide an elevated atmosphere, a special bell group with ties to Finland played the Ode to Joy beforehand and gave 2 further performances throughout the day. Despite the previous fears (i.e. the greater public being uninterested in the remote country and low number of exhibitors as a result of the financial crisis) more than 65 jobseekers visited the 15 exhibition stands 99 % of whom stated they were satisfied with the information received. 92% expressed an opinion that they have been helped to fulfil their decision either fully (43%) or partially (49%). The exhibitors also provided written evidence that on a 5 scale rate the evaluated the event as (67%) of (33%). Furthermore, the majority of them expressedly asked for being invited to similar occasions in the future. An important of the event is that the Ambassador of Finland proposed a joint meeting between the two countries ministers of employment in order to enhance the cooperation of the member states public employment services concerned.
