Led by Archipelago (+13.0%) and FPA Crescent (+10.4%), the segment advanced 8.4% during the year, outpacing the HFRI FOF: Diversified Index (+6.5%) by nearly 200 bps. The Federal Open Market Committee announced a 25 bps rate increase during the quarter, marking the third increase for the year. Intermediate-term Treasuries outperformed their longer-term counterparts as the yield curve continued to flatten during the quarter. Overall, fixed income managers combined to gain 4.7% for the year, outperforming the Bloomberg Barclays U.S. Aggregate Index (+3.6%) and underperforming the Citigroup World Government Bond Index (+7.5%). Other than MLPs, which experienced a choppy quarter, real assets (+3.4%) surged to finish the year.
