XBID MARKET: Project Update 24 th September 2014 Nils Teipel
XBID Market Presentation - Agenda 1. What is XBID? 2. Who is Participating? 3. Project Governance Structure 4. XBID Deliverables 5. Principles & Benefits for Market Participants 6. Project Status 7. Project Timeline 10 10
What is XBID? 1/3 Official project name: XBID Market (XBID = Cross Border IntraDay) The XBID Market project is seen as the pilot project for implementation of the target model of intraday trading solution according to CACM European Network Code. The project should develop and establish an integrated cross-border intraday continuous trading solution. The main goal is to facilitate a single intraday market across Europe
What is XBID? 2/3 XBID Market project has been divided into 2 main steps: Interim Solution Continuous trade of implicit allocation with exceptions for explicit allocation on borders approved by the regulators. Planned from 2016 onwards Enduring Solution Enduring solution which includes capacity pricing and sophisticated orders as well as other amendments based on experience from the Interim Solution. 12
What is XBID? 3/3 The Interim solution has two partially overlapping stages, each with a potential different scope and exclusions: Stage 1: To enable design and development of the XBID interim solution ready for local implementation projects for => Development of XBID Solution Stage 2: To monitor all local implementation projects, to identify coordination issues and to organize how to resolve them => XBID Implementations The complexity of the project requires a number of working groups please see the slide Project Governance Structure. 13

XBID Deliverables The project as such should deliver a solution for integrated crossborder intraday continuous trading. The solution must fullfil requirements developed by: TSOs (Interconnectors inclusive) PXs NRAs Market Consultation 16 16
XBID Deliverables Configurable and scalable system supporting processes related to: Capacity offering Capacity allocation Nominations & Scheduling & Shipping Settlement Local Implementations Projects are not in the scope of XBID Market. 17
Principles & Benefits for Market Participants 1/2 XBID Market solution will allow to define and maintain the future intraday market setup: Flexibility & scalability & extensibility within the setup of: Market Areas, Delivery areas, Virtual Delivery Areas, TSO users, PX users, Borders and Interconnectors, etc. Implicit and/or Explicit allocation of capacity close to delivery. Trading should be more user-friendly and quicker: Various order types (Regular orders / Ice-Berg orders) Execution restrictions (None / Immediate-or-Cancel / Fill-or-Kill / All-or-Nothing) Validity restrictions (Good-till-Date / Good-for-Session) 18
Principles & Benefits for market participants 2/2 Traders will be able to connect to XBID Market solution via web-based GUI or via Public Message Interface (automated connection). Trading activities will be documented in XML reports. Submitted orders will be either executed immediately or entered into the order book. The order book is made available to all users with the rights to access a delivery area where the order is relevant. Real time netting mechanisms will be implemented to ensure maximum available capacities 19
Project Status Project is now within a Business Blueprint Phase of Interim solution => The XBID Market system is now being designed & developed. The beginning of IT implementation of the XBID system is currently planned for the second half of December Following high level steps of development & implementation are captured on diagram on the following slide

Noise Enclosure 2014 will have a lower planned availability due to the noise enclosure works. Measurements have shown Grain convertor station to exceed the noise limits With Siemens and dba a proposal was made which would reduce the noise levels and have minimal impact on availability A three step approach was taken to enclose the 6 transformers; 35
Noise Enclosure, step 1 Starting point: A May outage was taken to install supporting beams 36
Noise Enclosure, step 2 While back online and available for trade, resume with the installation of the front panels and attenuators. 37
Noise Enclosure, step 3 During our standard outage in September add the remaining roof panels to complete the enclosure. 38
