ROSEN May 28, 2017 GOLD AND THE DOLLAR INDEX Technical Analysis can show us patterns that are a result of collective human financial behavior in the markets. If properly interpreted they provide us with the beginning and the end of important movements. 2 Gold and the Dollar Index are inextricably tied together. Definition of Inextricable by Merriam-Webster Impossible to separate: closely joined or related The bull market correction in gold began in March One month later in April 2008 the bear market correction in the Dollar Index began. 3 A corrective pattern once started almost always completes itself. An example of this is the Dollar Index insisting on making one more high in January 2017 at in order to complete leg 5 of its bear market correction. The high in the Dollar Index in December 2015 at coincided with the low in gold in December 2015 at $1, but was not high enough to be the final leg 5 high. All of the fundamentals are built into these patterns. The proper interpretation of patterns allows us to ignore the much discussed and written about so called fundamentals.
