3 Unigard at a Glance Unigard Insurance Group Over 100 years experience 1901 was the year Frank J. Martin and Corwin S. Shank first incorporated their new insurance company, Northwestern Mutual Fire Association. The company grew and adjusted to meet the challenges of each new era. In 1971 the name was changed to Unigard - meaning "one guard," or one source of insurance protection. The Unigard Insurance Group was founded on principles of individual strength and a focus on loss prevention those principles still hold today, though we ve spread into seven states, in three regions, covering the Northwest, Intermountain and the Southwest. A centralized core of operations in Bellevue, Washington provides underwriting and processing for personal lines, renewal underwriting and all processing of commercial lines, some claims processing, and all the administrative services our agents and policyholders need, including a range of premium payment choices, including monthly direct bill, and electronic fund transfers. Service, Service Service! Unigard has led the industry in the automation of insurance processing. Our systems allow us to fulfill our commitments to be a service-oriented organization, dedicated to fast, accurate, responsive assistance in any activity we undertake. Personal Lines FlexAuto is the centerpiece of Unigard's Personal Lines products. FlexHome will be introduced in the future. Homeowner and auto policies receive discounts when both are written with Unigard. Unigard offers an entire array of personal insurance products, including coverage for: Auto Homeowners Condominium-owners Tenants Inland Marine Boatowners Personal Umbrella Liability Rental Dwellings Unigard has an excellent claims reputation Centralization of Unigard's Claims processing has given us the ability to handle the vast majority of claims in a quick, decisive manner, with an emphasis on responsive communication and equitable adjusting. We also have field adjusters, which allows Unigard to give the larger, more complicated claims the individual attention they require. Advance preparation and planning helped Unigard's catastrophe team respond within hours to the 2003 Southern California wildfires. Financially, Unigard is strong Unigard has maintained a strong balance sheet, and an extremely liquid investment portfolio (no junk bonds, and minimal real estate holdings). All of Unigard's companies have a rating from the A.M. Best Company of A, (Excellent). Beyond that, Unigard's parent company, QBE has a Standard and Poors rating of A+, and is one of the top 18 insurers in the United States and among the top 25 insurers worldwide.. WA Rev
