To be provided to the independent consultant or contractor at induction or prior to commencement of service provision and to be signed by both parties 2. Fields in italics require the writer to insert the relevant information The induction of independent consultants and contractors is as important as the induction of employees who work for [insert name of organisation]. Establishment of the contract for services relationship with independent consultants or contractors, prior to the commencement of any work being undertaken, is of paramount importance. The parties must be mindful that the relationship between the parties whilst the independent consultant or contractor is providing services to [insert name of organisation] is that of a Contractor/Principal, not a standard employment relationship. The following checklist should be incorporated into the induction process held for the independent contractor or consultant engaged. The independent contractor or consultant should be required to sign the checklist once it has been exhausted and thoroughly explained. Emphasis should be placed on the fact that induction is carried out for a number of purposes; primarily to ensure that the Principal s OHS obligations under OHS and related legislation is satisfied to the best of each parties abilities, but also to ensure that the independent consultant or contractor carries out their duties or provides services in a manner that is in-keeping with the standards and philosophies upheld by [insert name of organisation] whilst they are engaged for service provision or to complete particular projects. 1. This must be read by the independent consultant or contractor and returned to the manager responsible for engaging them within five working days.
