5 Procedure of the BWG The BWG may consider relevant proposals to change the NAIC statement blanks and instructions at any interim or national meeting as scheduled by the Working Group All proposals shall be stated concisely using a prescribed form, which is available on the NAIC website The BWG meets four times per year: (3) meetings held during the NAIC Spring, Summer and Fall National Meeting, and one by conference call in June of each year Other conference calls may be held as deemed necessary by the Working Group
6 Procedure of the BWG Changes that impact a quarterly statement must be effective at the beginning of the year, and must be adopted no later than the NAIC Summer National Meeting (i.e., changes effective 1Q 2016 must be adopted no later than the 2015 Summer National Meeting) Changes that only affect the annual statement must be adopted no later than June in the year of the change (i.e., 2016 annual changes must be adopted no later than June 2016) Other changes not subject to the noted time guidelines are limited to: a) disclosures required in the current year by the Accounting Practices and Procedures Manual; and b) items providing instructional clarification of current reporting requirements
7 Procedure of the BWG These proposals will modify the instructions only, including Notes to Financial Statements, and will not be data captured If the proposal is to add a Note to Financial Statements that should be data captured, the Note may be added to the instructions in the current year and data captured the first subsequent year-end A summary of the procedures, and modifications effective for the 2015 annual statement may be viewed via the following link:

Prior to joining Travelers in 2006, Peter worked for former Travelers affiliate Travelers Life & Annuity, the State of Connecticut Insurance Department, and Ernst & Young. Peter has a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Connecticut, and a M.S. in Accounting from the University of Hartford. Peter is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Examiner.
