Specifically the seminar will address the accounting treatment of NPL s under the revised standards known as IFRS9 and impact that will have on bank profitability and capital. Emphasis is placed identifying the key qualitative and quantitative drivers of a robust credit analysis proposal (business, financial, structural risks). The course is interactive and includes the latest practical and theoretical developments in credit risk analysis, enhanced through the use of group exercises and case studies. Objectives Understand the principles of good lending, the lending process and the types of lending. In-depth discussion of the 5 or 7 Cs of Credit. Gain an understanding of the principles of Credit Risk by developing and applying a structured framework of analysis. Identify, categorize and interpret key financial ratios. Introduction to cash flow analysis. Compose a solid borrowing structure. Content What is Credit? Introduction to Lending Assessment of Key Analysis Tools Introduction to the Structured Framework of Analysis Quantitative Assessment (Financial Statements Components and Purpose) Quantitative Assessment (Financial Performance) Quantitative Assessment (Cash Flow Analysis) Borrowing Structure Assessment Exercises and Case Study Who should attend This is an introductory-level course primarily designed for non-finance individuals who wish to understand the Credit and Finance disciplines. Optional additional module: Family Governance For family-controlled banks, an additional module can be added examining what is meant by Family Governance, and how to develop good structures of Family Governance (e.g. Family Constitution, Family Employment Policy). 4 RISK MANAGEMENT SEMINARS PAST EVENTS IN RISK MANAGEMENT Basel III Accord New standards for Capital, Liquidity, and Systemic Risk Management 20-21/4/2017, 16 hours This intensive, practice-driven and interactive session introduces, discusses and analyzes the implications the macro-prudential regulatory regime has on the future of banking, risk management and the risk manager. At the same time, Basel III seeks to address the effects of the systemic risks that globally interconnected financial institutes propagate. Forbearance 25-26/5/2017, 16 hours This course is designed to provide Recoveries Managers, Heads of Departments and senior bank staff with the key skills that they require to manage and operate a problem loan assessment and recovery system that uses the optimum combination for them of automation and hands-on techniques. Emphasis is placed on the practical as well as the theoretical aspects, with numerous examples and case studies throughout the course as well as in depth discussions so that delegates can pool their experiences and learn from both mistakes and successes. Best Banking Practices 26-27/6/2017, 16 hours Risk management and banking standards are increasingly under the microscope of politicians, regulators, supervisors, and other stakeholders. Restoring trust in the financial system and consequently, a focus on culture and best practice is a key objective of management boards. It is a reasonable statement to say that everyone in the bank is a risk manager and this seminar is part of a process to increase awareness and risk culture across all risk siloes Credit, market, liquidity and operational risks. The Banking Best Practice (BBP) seminar aims to ensure that all staff are aware of the increasingly complex and evolving rules governing the banking and financial system and how these regulations impact the institution. Advanced Bank Analysis 16-17/10/2017, 16 hours A two-day seminar which drills down the financial statements of banks in order to identify and quantify risks of counterparties or investors. Covering much of the content from the Bank Analysis seminar, this course builds and reinforces understanding and deals with more complexity
