4 Key Findings Average Investment per MFI Tier 2/3: ~ 0.71M ( 0.3M in 2011) Tier 2: ~ 1.4 M Tier 3: ~ 0.25M Global Portfolio Growth 228M for Tier 2 & 3 MFI Two funders invested 223M in 2012 (respectively +900% and +66% compared to 2011) The other 4 funders registered variations of +66%, +65%, -4% and -52%.

12 Conclusions The trend of growth has been confirmed although some countries have experienced political instability (MENA Countries) and difficult global and local macroeconomic conditions. Every region drew less than 30% of total portfolio investments 248% growth in total portfolio in just a 12-month period due to 2 major investors The drop of investments in between the six funders that took part to both surveys is surprising, as more and more investors are claiming to focus more on this continent Technical assistance is provided by only 4 of the funders and focuses mainly on n Tier 3 MFIs Access to these data should foster the different organizations to work more together while sharing information, knowledge and experience on the different regional sectors and MFIs.
