1 UNDERSTAND YOUR STUDENT CONTRACT
2 Contract Execution Before signing the contract: Ensure that you have thoroughly read Form 12:Advisory Note before reading the contract. Understand the terms and conditions of the contract. Ensure that you have not made any payment before signing the contract Sign a separate contract for every course you enrol in. Ensure that there are no blank fields in the contract. Please put N.A. if the field is not applicable. IMPORTANCE The Private Education Institution-Student Contract is a very important document, especially for dispute resolution.
3 Note for Students before executing the contract Before signing the student contract for course enrolment, make sure you have thoroughly read FORM 12: Advisory Note to Students. This form can be downloaded from the website of the Committee for Private Education, Singapore ( or CPE. This form must be completed and signed either by you (the student), or your parent or guardian if you are below 18 years of age.
4 Note for Students when executing the contract The preliminary section of the student contract contains the terms and conditions. Please ensure that you provide an accurate information to the school. For (2) Full name of Student, your name must be according to your NRIC or Passport. If you are 18 years old and above, please put N.A. for (3) Full name/legal Guardian.
5 Note for Students when executing the contract COURSE INFORMATION SCHEDULE A: In this section, you will find information about the course you have chosen, course duration, study options, course commencement and completion date, etc. Please ensure that the following information are correct: Course information Name of the organisation that develops and awards the qualification, and the expected date of receiving your qualification.
6 Note for Students when executing the contract COURSE FEE SCHEDULE B: In this section, you will find the breakdown of course fees and other fees (including FPS and medical premium fee, GST and study grant or exemption fees (if applicable). Course fee/re-module fee and medical fee will be protected under FPS. If you want to know more about FPS, please visit INSTALMENT SCHEDULE: This table shows a detailed breakdown of the final payable course fees and instalment plan of the course fee (if any).
7 Note for Students when executing the contract MISCELLANEOUS FEES SCHEDULE C: This table shows a detailed breakdown of the applicable miscellaneous fees. Miscellaneous fees refer to any noncompulsory fees which the you pay only when applicable..
8 Note for Students when executing the contract SCHEDULE D: If you withdraw from the course more than 14 days before course commencement date, you can receive up to 100% refund of the fees paid. If you withdraw from the course before but not more than 14 working days before course commencement date, you can receive up to 50% refund of the fees paid. All withdrawals must be submitted in writing.
9 Note for Students when executing the contract An example of refund rate for various circumstances as per Schedule D : Importance note: For refund table,14-days means 14 working days. Contract signing date is considered as 1 st. Day of day calculation. Important Note: If there is any amendment made on the contract (strike-off on the printed text etc.), the amended area must be counter-signed by both parties. 11 Fee Protection Scheme With the protection of fees via an insurance scheme, you will be assured of a refund of the unconsumed fees if: The private education institution you have enrolled in ceases operations, or: You obtain an Order of Court (judgment) against the private education institution in a dispute case FPS Adopted by School For more information, visit: Protection of fees paid by all local and international students is for non-fps waiver courses only
12 When to purchase the FPS insurance The insurance is to be purchased within 7 working days after the Fees* payment made. You will receive a Certificate of Insurance (COI) from the Insurance provider once the insurance** has been purchased. You should also check that the insurance coverage period starts from the payment date. Fees* refer to all monies that are paid to the school by the student to be enrolled in the school(included re-module fee). The following fees are exempted from FPS, if collect by the school: ** FPS insurance premium is 2.75% (not inclusive of GST) of the payable amount which is borne by student. I. Course application or processing fee II. Prevailing Goods and Services Tax(GST) III. Miscellaneous fees IV. FPS insurance premium V. Examination fees collected less than 2 months before examination date
13 About the terms and conditions of the contract REFUND POLICY There are 3 types of refund in this policy, as below. 2.1 Refund for withdrawal due to non-delivery of course Refund rate:100% 2.2 Refund for withdrawal due to other reasons Refund rate based on Schedule D (refer to refund table). 2.3 Refund cooling-off period (within 7 working days) Refund rate: 100% Non-refundable fees are as below (if collected by the school): I. Course application or processing fee II. III. IV. Prevailing Goods and Services Tax (GST) Miscellaneous fees FPS insurance premium V. Examination fees
14 Course Deferment Deferment is allowed for a maximum period of 1 year. Student s Pass should be cancelled. Students are required to contact Lithan Academy 2 months before the term s commencement in order to re-apply for a Student Pass. A deferment administration fee will be charged for each term deferred. Students who wish to apply for deferment need to complete a Deferment Request Form, which is available from Lithan Academy s Student Services department. Verbal requests for deferment will not be entertained. The Deferment Request Form can also be downloaded from Lithan Academy s website (at Note that Deferment of NICF courses are subject to SSG approval. Transfer and Withdrawal applications are subject to Lithan Academy s approval. The time frame for assessing and replying to any request for transfer or withdrawal will not be more than 4 weeks. All requests for transfers or withdrawals should be in writing and be accompanied by Lithan Academy Form OPS-FR007.
