1 EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA STANDING COMMITTEE OF THE EFTA STATES S/00/I/036.Zg 19 June 2000 Brussels JOINT COMMITTEE DECISIONS ADOPTED TO DATE IN 1998 This list provides the following information: firstly, it gives the date by which the legislation referred to must be complied with in the EU; secondly, it gives the exact publication reference in the and the Supplement. The date on which an EFTA State is obliged to implement the act in question depends on several factors, i.a. the date of adoption of the Joint Committee decision, possible need for parliamentary approval and the existence of transition periods or derogations. Terminology used in this list The stated date of force as provided for in each decision applies where there are no constitutional requirements to be fulfilled by any contracting party before a decision can enter into force, or where the fulfilment of such requirements is notified before the stated date. Where one of the contracting parties needs to fulfil constitutional requirements and notification is received after the stated date of force, the confirmed date of force will be the first day of the second month following the last notification (c.f. Article 103 of the Agreement). In such cases a formal notification is sent out by the Secretary to the Joint Committee once the last notification has been received, indicating the actual force date of the decision concerned. This list is also updated accordingly and uses the terminology "confirmed force date" following notification under Article 103.
