4 Financial Conditions To confirm acceptance at Aiglon, the Parent/Guardian is required to sign a copy of these Financial Conditions. 1) Annual Fees a) When a student is re-enrolled, the annual fees for the following year are due by 15 June. b) In the event of late enrollment, the annual fees are due within 15 days upon receipt of the invoice. The fees are reviewed annually by the Board of Governors, although in exceptional circumstances fees may be subject to an interim review. 2) Enrolment of a New Student a) If a student is accepted, his or her place is reserved on receipt of the deposit. The deposit is reimbursed after the student leaves the school, provided the account has been fully settled. b) Admission is confirmed on receipt of the annual fees, which are due by 15 June. c) In event of written cancellation of enrolment before 15 June, the fees, but not the deposit, will be reimbursed in full. Cancellation after that date will mean that the fees for the first term are payable. d) Students enrolling mid-year have to pay the full fees for the remaining part of the academic year before enrolling. In the case of such a student withdrawing, the fees are not refundable. 3) Re-Enrolment a) Those parents wishing to withdraw a student for the following academic year must inform the Director of Admissions and Advancement in writing before 31 March. If cancellation occurs after this deadline, fees in lieu are due for the first term and the deposit will not be reimbursed. b) Aiglon will retain a place for all other students. 4) Change of Boarding Status A change of status from boarding to day student is not permitted during the course of the academic year. Any changes in boarding status between academic years must be requested in writing to the Director of Admissions and Advancement, and cannot be guaranteed until confirmed by the School. 5) Expulsion and Suspension The fees for the whole term are due in the case of expulsion. If a student is suspended for misconduct, transport and accommodation costs will be passed on to the parents. In such circumstances, the deposit is non-refundable. 6) Absence from School Fees are not reimbursed when schooling is missed, for sickness, injury or any other reasons. Parents who are concerned should take out their own insurance. 7) Withdrawal If a student is to be withdrawn by parents during the school year, one term s written notice, addressed to the Director of Admissions and Advancement, is required. Fees for the following term are payable and the deposit will not be reimbursed if this notice is not given. In cases where withdrawal is mutually agreed by parents and the Head Master, only the fees for the term in progress are payable and the deposit will be reimbursed, provided the student s account has been fully settled. 8) Late Payment In case of late payment of fees or extras, Aiglon reserves the right to charge 1% per month interest. When fees are unpaid, the student may not be allowed to return to the School until the outstanding balance has been paid. 9) Tribunal In the case of litigation between the School and parents, the competent Tribunal will be that of Vevey. 10) Term Dates For the purposes of this agreement term dates are: Autumn Term: 1 August to 31 December, Winter Term: 1 January to 31 March, Summer Term: 1 April to 31 July. Page 4
5 Advance Payment of School Fees It is possible to make a lump sum payment in respect of school fees (minimum of 2 years in advance). The advantages of making such a payment will vary according to individual circumstances, but might include any number of the following: Certainty of funding during your child s education: An advance payment of a lump sum will ensure that funds are available to pay guaranteed amounts towards future fees. Transfer of funds from grandparents or parents estate: The advance payment of fees by a grandparent or parent removes the monies from the relevant estate. In some cases, this can be a very effective element to death duty planning. Fixing exchange rate at date of payment: An advance payment will be converted at the exchange rate applicable on receipt of funds, thereby removing exposure to the risk of future adverse movements in exchange rates. A discount is allowed in respect of lump sum payments: Where a lump sum advance payment is made, a discount will be allowed. The level of discount will vary according to prevailing interest rates and how far in advance the payment is made. Individual quotations will be provided on application. Partial Funding: The amount of an advance payment does not have to be designed to cover full fees. If appropriate, it can be designed to cover a lesser percentage of the fee, leaving parents to pay the balance as billed. Please note that paying fees in advance does not protect against future fee increases. If the advance fee scheme is of interest, please contact the Deputy Bursar (Finance) by at: finance@aiglon.ch.
